Just spent a week down in New Forest, Dorset and Devon - it's nice to see that the traffic police down there are even more friendly and understanding than I remember when I lived in Southampton 5 years ago.

It started at Beaulieu - not just with the various speed cameras and traps dotted around the place, but also with the Police videoing every bike that approaches the place.

Then we left the New Forest and headed down the A352 Wareham to Dorchester road. Came to a 50mph speed limit - doing an indicated 55 keeping up with the line of traffic. About 1/4 mile down the road is a junction with a layby on the left hand side where I spy 4 yellow vests. Keep going with the flow of traffic and then I spy the coppers quickly pick up the speed guns and point one straight at me and one straight at Jane - they've not bothered with the line of cars in front of us, they're obviously obeying the speed limits because they're nice save car drivers :bandit: :bandit:

Even better, when we get level with them they nod their heads in approval (one even gives me a thumbs up) that we've managed to haul our speed down from a ridicously high and dangerous 55 to about 51 and managed to curb our obvious anti-social and criminal nature. TOSSERS :bandit: The middle finger nearly came out, but then I remembered the Art Exhausts - and the fact that the bike hasn't quite been re-registered in the UK yet  For the benefit of our friends in blue on this site I'm waiting for an appointment with VOSA for a type approval test before DVLA can re-register the bike.

Then a bit further on we're in a national speed limit - long hill that turns into a 30 limit near the bottom. At the bottom of the hill at the junction is another copper sat in his car. As soon as he hears the bikes his ears pricked up and the money signs began spinning in his eyes - you could see him straighten up in his seat - another speed check. Bollocks to the cars that have just barrelled past him at about 45mph. As we go past he's on the radio - about a mile down the road another bloody plod has already pulled out of a side road in front of us in anticipation of a high speed chase - he decides we're not in rape. murder and pillage mode, gets bored then fucks off up a side road.

A big thank you to Dorset traffic division - it's nice to know that our roads are in safe hands. Well, at least there won't be any dangerous speeding bikers left - just nice safe car drivers that never speed down country roads, never decide to turn into junctions without indicating, never pull out on you etc etc etc ..............

Write a formal letter to the force concerned pointing out your experiences whist travelling in their county, addressed to the chief constable or head of road policing, copy it to a local paper, yeah nothing may happen but if we all just grumble amongst ourselves nobody outside that audience wil ever hear about it. :dunno:

1) How is your bike registered?

2) How have you insured it?

3) Did you go to the nudist beach at Swanage?

Bought it new in 2000 when I lived in Jersey. Have had customs and excise exemption on importing the bike into the UK. Still going through the pain in the ass paper work of re-registering in the UK. Great fun it is as well c7u8

Even though the Honda dealer in Jersey imports his bikes from Honda UK, it is regarded as a non-european import. At first I was directed to Honda UK for a European Certificate of Conformity, only to be told that they can't do one for a year 2000 bike (personally I think it's because it's red and too fast for the UK really :} ). So, now I need to get a Type Approval test to basically verify that a bike that has been sourced form Honda UK (but not registered in the UK) is up to UK specification. Could be interesting if it fails as it only passed the MOT about 6 weeks ago!!

Of course, there are fees for all of this bits of paper and certificates as well. The cynical could put it down to another form of indirect taxation

Fully comp insurance in the UK wasn't a problem once I'd explained the situation.

The one thing I want to avoid is a pull whilst it's being re-registered - explaining everything and producing all of the paperwork, emails, letters etc. would just be a pain.

Swanage and Studland beaches - bit too cold mate. Would have been full of old wrinklys. Anyway there was a beer with my name on it waiting at Corfe.

  , cannot fault ya mate..
Just out of interest, i have spent many many months in that area over the years and BROCKENHURST is the only place in 16 yrs of driving where a cop has told me to put my seatbelt on (in the cage of course)....i never ever wear them.

My folks used to run Hollands Wood campsite in the villiage and a few yrs ago a Gypo encampment moved onto the field at the back of them and the cops were over powered,, the locals threatened to deal with it themselves.
2 cops on a shift covering about 50sq miles of New forest, they were no match for 100+ cackers dripping with bling all driving brand new 4X4's...
