Andrew, you accused me in private of putting the boot in but I believe my response was moderate. Is it all right to offend someone so long as you do it in private? The bit I can't get my head around is that you seem to see no fault in yourself in all this brouhaha. I would prefer that you stay and continue as moderator as you work hard on here to keep the site alive. But I really wish that you would occasionally admit that you are in the wrong when you tramp over peeps views and opinions.

I have absolutely no idea what to make of that post!

But I hope the hangover was bad:hello:

And that is a perfect example of why you sometimes get peoples back up :( Being deliberately obtuse & pretending not to understand what has been said, its more annoying because all of us know you are quite well educated & know exactly that any particular comment meant :(

So to make it clear just incase I am wrong about your understanding, DA made an attempt to apologise for his post, Centaur supports what you do for this forum but does not always agree with your comments (I think that goes for most of us)

On a personal note, I have tried not to comment on this subject too much but its getting silly now, I don't agree with you all the time I mostly let it wash over me & move on but there comes a time when that cant happen no matter how much I respect your right to an opinion …….. I think that is what has happened here with one or two other folk & you do set yourself up for it !

Now can we please carry on being a load of sarcastic f***kwits without anyone else getting there tights in a turmoil ? ...

Pretty Please :D:p:D

Well there is the problem. You think your response was moderate - I don't.

As for private communication - as far as I am concerned you did put the boot in. You disagree. That's fine. If it offended you then I am sorry you feel that way but I will not apologise for my opinion. You chose to go public, not me.

I do not believe it is right to slag anyone off in the forum. Disagree, banter, Mickey take, yes. Making it personal is not for me. You appear to think it is ok. You may have a different boundary between banter and personal abuse to me....which again is fine, it's a free world - just don't expect me to take it lying down.

Is it me, or have I heard this somewhere before?

You're sounding very much like a frustrated attention seeker.

Beware the fact that people may become impatient with your attitude.

John: can you remedy this, please?

It seems to be very easy to fall into the keyboard warrior mode.

I try not to because I feel arguments on line are foolish, as are arguments on phone. In work, I did my best to call out issues on site, where people can read the body language and get the issue resolved on the spot if possible.

But life isn't really that simple I suppose.
I used to debate and argue with a good friend, RIP, at the end he would sit back and look me in the eye and say "do you think many people think like you"

Usually, probably not!!

You can remedy this yourself by letting it go - in my humble opinion.

It is easy to fall into “warrior mode” on a forum. But if a clear and concise argument is offered and fully explained; and its logic is clarified, line by line in order to de-escalate conflict to the point of elimination, then the matter should be considered as one that is resolved, should it not?

I'm sorry but I didn't read it properly.
I just found it too much.

Maybe I do 'set myself up for it' - I am honest in my opinions and maybe I should let some of the crap posted on here wash over me (there is an outstanding case of hypocrisy in another unrelated thread running at the moment where I have bitten my tongue as I know I will get slaughtered by the hyenas if I point it out simply because it is me doing so) but there is no excuse for making personal comments or giving personal abuse on this or any other public forum. In my opinion.

This is what I can't get my head round - the post to which you refer from DA was obtuse. Was it an apology to me? I didn't think so when I read it. Did it bother me that it wasn't an apology specifically to me? Not really. I really couldn't make head nor tail of it and responded accordingly while attempting to inject a bit of humour to one of who I believe to be the 'good guys'.

I think there is s bit of a mindset by some on here that whatever I say or do will get jumped on. And I really don't mind that .........if it is done with humour/good nature. But not personal abuse.

I'm with Slim on this one.
Enough's enough. Points have been made and retorts have been given.
Now it appears to be just going round and round endlessly in a never ending spiral of negativity and there is a danger of dragging the rest of us in.

I suggest everyone leave the subject be for 24 hours to let tempers cool and reason return. We're all a bit tetchy due to present circumstances.
