Bird flu feared to be spreading

BRUSSELS/AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Bird flu is feared to be spreading beyond the Netherlands after Belgium found a suspected case of the highly-infectious poultry disease and started culling thousands of chickens.

Dutch officials imposed fresh restrictions across the border in Brabant province, which is the main Dutch producing region with nearly a quarter of the country`s 100 million chickens.

"We`re a bit worried," Dutch Agriculture Ministry spokeswoman Martine de Haan said on Wednesday.
