No, but I do have a very nice floral dress, size 14 that I wear along with stockings, suspenders and my special silk underwear, only wear it when the wife's not around. You can borrow it if you want, but you must wash it before returning.

Oh bollix wrong forum

Aye..

I'm on my 2nd kilt, (1st one died of beer stains and kebab sauce), and have worn one this one on every 'special' occasion for the past 6 years. Very comfy and surprisingly warm. Great range of adjusment, I've varied by 2 stone in this one's lifetime and it still fits.
Friend of mine wore one riding thro' USA on a Harley a few years back, said it was a great ice breaker especially with the ladies...And yes, most of us do go commando.

NO Andy but have considered getting one for years ans feel I have the right to wear it because of the special bonds between scotts and frogs - having said that I have a great Berber djelaba and sarongs, and dangling bits is good

My mother always claimed that she was a descendant of Robert the bruce, but she died in 1976 of acute alchoholism so I never found out if this is true, she was from dunfirmline, so I suppose there is a Possibility...Does this make me royalty???

I can see the logic of Derek's argument and from now on, as far as I'm concerned, he's a queen.

My brother has just reminded me of a time when we were kids I think I was about seven he was nine, we went to a gala at Roundhay park in Leeds, we were attired in full scottish regalia wearing royal stewart tartan kilts, the guest of honour at the gala was a supposedly famous Scottish wrestler with the surname Campbell he was also dressed in full Scottish regalia but he had a different kilt to us, apparently he made some amusing comment, it was that amusing neither my brother or I can remember it.

I have worn a kilt for many a special occasion, although I do not own my own as these can be very costly items especially when you get to be my size!!

I have several tartans to choose from as a McDonald, also this gives me the right to wear the MacDonald tartans too. The Clan derived its generic name from Donald, who was the grandson of Somerled, the historical founder of the Family of the Isles. From this arose the name MacDonald, or son of Donald, Mac, or the Gaelic Mhic, signifying son.

is it best to go for the full 8yds of cloth or the the 5yds??? is there that much difference when wearing them????

I have no birth right to wear one, but married a griffin who's father had links with the kennedy's from aye way.

But whilst looking at them on the net, i understand there are some that i can wear, without offending anybody (by not having the birthright etc.) one of which is the black watch (which according to the information I read you dont even have to been a mamber of).

Wanted to get married in one years ago, but it fell by the way.

Lumpy the tartan of your clan was also one of the ones i liked,

Royal stewart too much red, like the green and blue tartans the best.

also the jacobite shirts and jackets but the jacket would be for the best. the kilt i would wear anyway really.

Cheap versions on ebay for ?40 upwards, but they are made of man made cloth instead of wool.

Most decent kilts i have seen are around the ?250 mark.

The price of a bit of skirt

All the kilt kit including sporran socks etc set me back about 600 quid but I've had my monies worth. Most folk hire the whole lot for weddings etc and the hire places often sell off the gear after a while and most of it is in good nick. You can pick up the whole lot for half the new price. Don't go for Black watch, it's a bit dark but there are a few nice ones that anyone can wear. Give a shop a call and they'll tell you what they have and how much it'd cost you.

By the way Bev, Better a Big Tasty than a quarter pounder...
