4000 mile service due now :h . Do I cough up the ?95 quid being asked by my Honda dealer, or, go to an independant, help him do it, and get the book stamped for a lot less than ?90. When I asked one Honda dealer in Manchester what was involved in the service he said, " Oil and Filter and we give the bike a good going over, it really is important at that mileage to give it a thorough looking at" . Wot do ya reckon?

If you take it to the dealer in Manchester 'H**TS' the chances are it will be worse coming out than going in!!!

Oil and Filter???

According to the Owner's Manual, Oil and filter are only due at 8000 miles or 12 months. At 4000 miles only :- idle speed, brake fluid, brake pads and clutch fluid are inspected and they WILL be fine It's a Honda. ?95 is a rip off. :bang:

Gone independent, :neenaw:, did the checks, all four of them in 10 minutes, book endorsed accordingly. Just a thought but do Honda have any say in the price dealers are charging for these "services", as it would appear that everyone is of the opinion that it's a rip off, or is it the dealers way of clawing back extra revenue after the sale? I enquired at four seperate Honda dealers and got four seperate prices for the same service. :dunno:

Is to go to someone you trust unless you are worried about resale values.

Gonna keep the 'Bird for some time as it suits my needs, so not too worried about resale.
