We've organised for a few quotes for a landscaper to do some wok in the back garden, bloke was supposed to come at 5.30 yesterday, no show, 7.15 this morning he rang “er, I was supposed to come & give a quote yesterday, sorry mate, I didn’t get finished till 8 o clock” “you could’ve phoned last night instead of getting me out of bed to tell me” (I was already up) “oh, er can I come this morning?” “No, goodbye”

Differences in quotes, a guy who works building sites said he can do it on weekends, he’s given us an itemised quote & he lives in the next Street & can start it in June, £3600.

local firm who have their own equipment & skips etc £ 8,950.

It’s a minefield. Mother in law wanted her drive taken up and block paved….the people over the road from us had theirs done and recommended the contractor…..less than a year later the whole lot had to be taken up and redone at great expense.

The first contractor quoted for mother in law’s driveway in the meantime, fortunately health issues got in the way of having it done. I mentioned it to a general builder mate who said he couldn’t supply the materials for what they quoted which raises all sorts of questions…….
