anyone got any hints or tips for creating the ultimate conker ?
bearing in mind my 9 year old son will be reading this thread please keep it work-safe gentlemen

Soak in vinegar for about a week, then bake on a low heat till it is rock hard, make sure you drill the hole first.

Cut carefully in half,clear out most of core,fill with lead shot,glue together and go destroy em. The conkerer sp :bow:

Mrs P here. Thanks to a couple of elderly uncles I was the only girl who had conkers that were better than the boys They told me to steep them in vinegar for a few days then bake them in the oven--works a treat.

Neil thought the notion of lead shot and glue was quite good but would not let our 5 yr old know about this as he thinks he is an American police man at the moment and would happily go around blowing peeps heads off-bit like his dad but he has not the excuse of being 5 just of being gimped and bikeless.Morag.
