Clean bike vs Dirty Bike

This should get Rough and Ready going................!!

Does riding a cleaner bike make you a better rider?

Sounds daft [maybe] but my belief is that in most cases someone who take a pride in their steed and has sufficient personal discpline to want to keep a clean bike....WILL RIDE BETTER AND SAFER

As opposed to those who never clean the bike - and due to lack of personal discipline probably neglects routine maintenance as well

e.g. dry and slack chain....incorrect tyre pressures et al + IAM pre-ride check list :} :} :wank:

aha, twas only a matter of time

before Fisherman Fudge cast some bait in my direction.......lol :wank:

FudgeVader - you forgot one other discussion point - is it better to spend all your spare time polishing your turd, er I mean bike, or actually riding it...this one's worth 100 points so answer carefully !!!!!! :lol:

Does it count if the dyno centre polished some grubby paw prints off the bike ?? :dunno:

Why not take the piss eh?

But this is a serious thread

Sure there are "some" peeps - normally ducati, harley or beemer riders w;;v who spend more time polishing than riding - but lets discount them for a minute [most people do :} ] and look at those proper riders who do actually ride their steeds more than 200 mile a year

What now Wet n Dry?

I see you have finally admitted to your shortfalls in both riding time each year and your riding ability ?? Fair play !!! :bow:

Doesn't matter if the bikes clean or filthy....I'm still a shit rider !!!! :lol:

Seriously....if I spend half of Sunday cleaning the bike and then use it for the weeks commute, by Friday it's rotten. I'm out of bed at 5am, leave home at 5-30'ish, ride the 50 miles to work. Leave work at 4-30'ish, ride the 50 miles home....do I now feel inclined to start washing and polishing the bike ?? No !!

So by Friday afternoon am I a worse rider than what I was on Monday morning ?? I don't think so. If any rider is covering 2000 miles a month then the experience gained by riding must improve their skills, clean bike or dirty bike would make no odds.

I do feel better about the bike when it's clean though !!!! :}

Oi Slippery Nipple~~~!

Editing a post may prove "amusing" to the petty ones but you still haven't added anything worth reading to the thread

You moan about this and whinge about that but when it comes to the "vinegar stoke"................... you just can't cut it, can you?

Interesting one this, some people will argue that they spend so much time riding their bikes that they don't get time to clean them,I prefer my bike to look clean but depending on shifts/weather I don't always feel in the mood to clean it. regarding maintaining the bike my youngest daughter's ex boyfriend used to clean his bike at least once a week, however when riding he used to rag the arse off it, pulling wheelies and slamming the front down he went through two sprocket & chain sets and two sets of front bearings in less than a year due to how he rode the bike, the bike started blowing fuses but instead of finding out why he just replaced the fuses, when he came to sell the bike it looked immaculate but basically it was a pile of shite that had been badly abused.

still clean does not = good.

the bike has feck all to do with the riders ability.

Just keep your number plate clean Mark, that's the only bit Berty sees on a ride out:lol:
Talking of number plates, did Bert tell anyone that he was the only one to get pulled by the plod on the way to Spain?.
Well it was just before Plymouth actualy (we hadnt even left the country). Both Rich and I had illegal sized plates on (smallish ones) and Berts was wrong as the letters went -ABC 123, you cant have them in line now, they have to like this:
ABC
123

Both Rich and I passed plod normally so he took no notice, but what did Bert do?, slowed down !!!! plonker :wank: . So plod got a good long hard look at his fudge machine and pulled him.

So he got an ear bending off plod while we stood by and took the piss.:}

He was not a happy bunny.

Buzz.

Sits back and waits for retaliation.......:rolleyes:

was he a small copper then Allan........................... :dunno:

Must have been to only reach his ears.........

At least it`s better than the plod who pulled him on Derby r/road when he first had the "Bird XX" plate, he thought that with the number plate saying Bird on it, David was a woman...boy did he get a shock when Bert took his helmet off................ :lol: :f
