Didn't like Blackjacks
but Fruit Salad were 4 for a penny, Refreshers a ha'penny each. Penny and tuppence bars of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. Fry's 'Five Boys'. Nux bars. Tiffin. A ha'penny liquorice stick with a ha'penny bag of sherbert. Duncan's Walnut Whips. Nicking me dad's Buttered Brazils (only at Xmas!) Callard & Bowser's Butterscotch. Needler's Fruit Drops. Bright yellow, red-coated Pineapple Rock from Teddy Gray's and their Fishes. Their Coconut Mushrooms. Ooh and Troach Drops - but I didn't like them at all. Having Smarties doled out by the 8. (there were 8 colours, see, so that was what you got) Or a slice of Crunchie, Or a slice of Mars, Or a slice of Bounty. My big sister still remembers the day sweets came off ration, my dad giving her the money to go and buy herself a whole Mars bar.
No good asking Pete - his Granny had a sweetie shop, so he never even realised they were on ration!
We also used to get some 'Toblerone shaped' fruit ice lollies - any one remember them? You had to sort of roll them vigorously between the palms of your hands to unstick the wrapping! or Walls Kreemie (sp?) lollies - banana or raspberry? Walls also did a lolly that was coffee ice cream coated in chocolate with crunchy/nutty bits in - what were they called? or Walls 'Heart' lollies. Ben & Jerry - forget it!
