Just had go at wrapping a mirror. Not sure...? What do you lot think?

The mirror is probably the hardest part to do so its was a deffo a baptism of fire but ok to do with a bit of patience.

Just an experiment really. Its easy to remove @tu*

Cheers.

Have a look on you tube there are loads of vids on how to do it. I picked this stuff up from Ebay. £20 for a decent 1m x 1.5 roll

When you apply heat from a hair dryer it's very flexible. When cooled down again it goes quite stiff. Sticks like poo to a blanket.

They do a really cool 3d design that looks for like real carbon. They sent a sample with this stuff.

Ill do the other mirror tomoz ( it needs taking to bits to do) and then consider the fairing infill bits at a later date. :yo:

PS it would be dead easy to do a whole bike

Have you set the film ? & what did you use to make sure it was done correctly ? d34l

Not Vinyl Rap then ? If its Vinyl Rap the question stands.

On commercial graphic installs I think there is an additional final heat stage (in addition to the fitting heat/stretch cycle). or do you mean edge sealer on areas prone to chemical damage (petrol filler necks). I haven't done any vinyl wrapping but had spent some time reading around the subject a couple of years ago when I was considering vinyl wrapping my old bike and don't recall seeing any final seal or sealant stage being mentioned apart from the above.

I was referring to heat setting if not it will just lift off on a hot day, we do use different sealers & bonding chemicals to assist edge & over lap joints.

To heat set you nead to be carefull when doing plastics as you need around 200deg C & need a digital heat sensor.

Indeed. It's a simple case of stick it on the best you can. No final anything :yo:

If it looks naff or starts to fall off you can simply remove it or re apply it :-0)

Looks like a really neat job @tu*

However to me it looks like fake carbon fibre. I hate those bikes where the plastics are made to resemble carbon fibre. It just makes me wince a bit.

nice job. Still think the carbon dipping would give a nicer finish, but prob more expensive, however they do lacquer over it...

I reckon a real carbon skin would look better. No way am I going to do the ones on the bike. I'll consider buying some used mirror shells off eBay to experiment on @tu*
