Hiya all, :-0) this being a "bikeing" site I thought, who better to ask about Caravan problems!! :-0)

Yvonne my "other half" has a Caravan with one of those electrickery "movers" fitted to it, a problem has arisen as she hasnt used the van for a year or so, the Battery has gone flat, yeah I know, however after charging it, we have discovered the "mover" wont!! it "clicks" but wont do anything else, she had a similar problem a bit back, and was told the "mover" had to be re set, and was charged some cash!!:dunno: now being completely ignorant about these things, could someone please tell me how without having to take the van to a stealer to get them to "re set" the mover, can I re set it ?? is it possible ?? is it rocket science ?? can a numpty like me do this thing please??:dunno:

ok so we all got the bit about it being a caravan

BUT a bit more info on the mover would be a good start

there is normally a makers name plate on them if its the type im thinking of were it has a set of rollers that move on to the tyres when you need to move it

or is it the type that go under the ball hitch

:dunno:

We've got a battery powered remote, with "good" battery's in it!! it's the roller on the wheels type, but we cant remember the name !! and as it's over at Yvo's we wont be over till tomorrow to see!!:xm I'll take a couple of pictures and find out what make it is!! thanks for asking/looking though!!

find the main control box there will be a reset button on there for the main unit

but you may also find that the remote needs to be programmed to the main unit id the battery's have gone flat at any time

for how to do this you will just have to google for a user manual
for knowing what buttons to press at what order to programme back up

What happened to the days of just pushing the damned thing? Or do modern caravans weigh so much because of the home from home fittings they contain - fridge/freezer, ensuite bathroom, micro-wave oven, LCD TV, air-con unit, dishwasher? Is now't simple in caravaning these days!

Having bought the Caravan when she was on her own, living on a steep hill in Barnsley and now having a bad back, a "Mover" was a no brainer, as far as all the gubbins inside is concerned, I've a tent!! :-0) :f

Must be a fairly simple 'reset' as a mate of mine bought this type over the counter to fix himself.

I have wondered whether you have done the 'loom fix'.

Ian,

a leisure battery for a caravan that has been flat for a year will be scrap...try getting a new battery but go for a big one, 110 amps rather than a cheaper versions. movers need a lot of juice. had to change mine this season at just two years old, wouldnt hold a charge. hope you get it sorted.

Well many thanks for the answers, and your link John,
Yvonne has taken it all on board, and we are off to get a new "bigger" Battery on Thursday, I've taken the old one off and even with my "top end" charger it's definatly a DEAD battery!!:dunno:
and until we get a new battery, we wont be writing the mover off, which incidentally is a "Carver" single axle mover with remote handset M606846  Me I'd be happy with my tent but as we are getting old and "need" shower, double bed,hot running water and a kitchen sink!!:-0)

now looking for a "good deal" on a leisure battery!! any idea's h1d1ng2

I will tell you this much Ian.. you buy a cheap one or a 'bargain' and chances are high you will be looking for one again next year :xm

try and go for an Elecsol or Platinum .. I would suggest a 110AH one if you sometimes wild it without a hookup.. But if you are always gonna be on hookup then an 80AH one will be plenty good enough

Cheers Derek/John, I learned ages ago "buy cheap buy twice"!! were going for a 110 and I've been roped in to rig a permanent cable system up so it'll always be on charge via the van charger, when parked at Yvo's!!
