Tyres . . .

New BBird with Dunlops, rear punctured yesterday - bugger - only 6 weeks old ( mind you, got 4800 miles on it ).

My usual daily ride is Berkshire to Tower Hill - 97 miles a day round trip. Total of 10 mile country roads, 70 miles Mway, the rest London traffic, plus weekend jaunts .

I ride in the wet, the cold, the frosty ( within reason ) . .

Its always a compromise between grip and durability, but whats the best tyre for the Blackbird, to suit my needs ?

I don't want to start another 6 page rant . . just some advice on a tyre for the type of mileage I do.

Thats the touch paper sorted... now the retire to safe distance part ? . . .

IMHO - For yer good old day to day riding and not yer pretend Rossi -u- likes I dont think you can go far from from the Blackbird specific Bridgestones.

All those that rant and rave over this tyre and that when they got to get a knee down is in my opinion a load of cock, who really rides like that, I know I dont, so for the 99% of normal riders I stand by my recommendation of Bridgestone 020 for good old day to day riding

For the past few years Ihave been doing the same sort of riding Ive tried the tyres that were on the bike BT57's ? Early avons (shite) 020's and Azaros . Ive ridden in all weathers including snow and ice and Ive ridden different birds with different tyres back to back. All I can say is its personal preference but Ive just put a new Azaro on mine and Toots has just put them on her Bird.
All of the touring tyres for the Bird at the moment are good I find that for everyday riding you get a lot more miles from the Avons and with the amount of motorway riding you do they wont go square so soon.

70 miles a day on motorways, I`d go for the Bird specific Azaros.

Azaro's or 020's

General opinion seems to have the Azaro's a little ahead, including me! But they're both good.

bearing in mind the amount of motorway riding you do i'd go for azaros. they don't square off half as quick as the 020's. and you'll get more mileage out of them too. the new ones are fine in the wet - they give me full confidence.

Feel is a mega subjective issue - what one person cosiders to be a loose feeling tyre, someone else will love it....riding style will have a massive effect on tyre life and feel, smooth on the gas, smooth on the brakes with smooth cornering makes a huge difference to tyre wear and life....I find the best solution is to try different tyre brands for myself and stick with what works for me....FYI, me, I'm a bridgestone chap.....010's...
