Doh.........

:violin: Seems I'm gonna have to sell the Bird after all

I need some cash for a business venture and this seems the easiest way to go.

Yesterday I was offered a reasonable offer from a dealer but someone in the know said that it's worth a bit more so I figured I'd offer her here as I'm sure anybody from this forum would look after her.

The Bird is a 2004 model in Stealth Black (stunning !) with just over 4K, completely standard with Kappa/Givi luggage rack. It has a Meta 357 alarm system.

I would like to get as close to ?6k so please post or email me (nitehawk220@gmail.com) if you're interested. Also KTM 950 (Silver) 2004 mileage 6.5K, I need about ?5,500 for that or it's going in on a new 950.

Might well be interested in the KTM mate. I take it it's the Adveture and not the 950 Supermoto? Any pics, history, etc would be appreciated.

Hi Dirty Sanchez,

Yes, it's the 950 Adventure. It has full history, the last service being done a thousand or so miles ago, it's in the shop on Monday in order to have the recall work done (something to do with the carbs). Also having a new rear tyre done at the same time.

Overall condition is great although it has suffered some corrosion to the spokes which is apparently quite common on all KTM's. My dealer said not to worry about it and should it need a respoke in a couple of years, parts and labour would come in at approx ?270. The spokes aren't covered by the warranty.

I am the second registered keeper, the first kept it for only two months or so as he was a bit of a short arse and found it difficult to handle and opted for a ZX6R instead.

The only problem I've had with the bike is that the back brake failed on me, I don't think I noticed for week ! Only found out when I tried to do a hill start. This will of course be sorted before the new owner takes delivery and will be looked at on Monday whilst in for the recall stuff.

As I want to get the new model which I understand has had a seat modification making it slightly lower and more comfortable (see this month's BIKE magazine) you could have the brand new (gel) seat instead if you prefer as I'm pretty tall 6'5" so the current height is ideal for me.

If you would like to view it, you can anytime after Thursday next week as I'll be up to my eyeballs until then.

I will try and get some pictures by then.

Cheers mate :yo:

Thanks, I'm not actually getting rid of my bikes though. I was going to consolidate the two and get a new KTM adventure as I can do with just the one for the time being. After taking stock, I came to the conclusion that given the weather we're currently experiencing (which is dominant in the UK) ie shite, I tend to opt for the KTM rather than the bird as the handling is better in the wet etc..

I've ordered the new KTM but the dealer offered OK money for the adventure but quite crap money for the Bird. He does deal with mainly off road stuff though so maybe that explains it.

If DS (or anyone else) wants to match the dealers offer of ?5500 then they are welcome to have the bike instead because a mate of mine wanted me to trade in his (arse) Bandit if possible. I don't think they'd take 3 bikes in on one new one ! Might convince them to take my van though if the bird sells too.

Cheers guys, have a great weekend :yo:

Hi Dirty Sanchez,

I've been trying to PM you but don't have the facility. If you are still interested in the KTM, please could you send me an e-mail to
sgrant@a-ok.co.uk and I'll get the photos to you ASAP.

Cheers.

Ive just had to sell one of my bikes for the same reason...business doing crap...need the money. I put the Bird and my lovely Kwak ZRX1100R up for sale. I would keep the one that didnt sell. The ZRX sold in a day.Could've sold it ten times over, but i didnt get any enquiries about the Bird at all...hence ive still got it. Sad to see the ZRX go tho...:dunno:
