F1 is a team sport, and the constructors championship is generally more important tot he team, but to have the best chances of attaining this takes precedent. We may not like it or agree with it but that is the case. Same for BSB and WSB, riders will aid their team mate but maybe not so obviously and if we think it doesn't happen we are kidding ourselves.Agreed. That's because it's racing. Unlike this week's F1 where I understand they had to politely ask the faster car to move over so that Sir Lewis didn't throw his toys out of the pram.
That's a bit harsh. If they hadn't done what they did (which is exactly what any intelligent person in a team would have done) then they would receive just as much criticism. There is also the aspect that Hamilton didn't challenge Bottas for the lead during the race but just sat behind him. Again, very sensible. Based on this season's form there is every reason to believe Hamilton would have been able to get by, but why risk two cars into the barriers??Agreed. That's because it's racing. Nope.I thought team orders in F1 had been banned...?
But why not tell Hamilton not to overtake Bottas? The points scored for the team would have been the same and Hamilton would still have extended his lead over Herman. That's a bit harsh. It was a boring race though. Street circuits always are, with the exception of Monaco.
If you had watched the race and listened to what Hamilton and Bottas had to say after the race you wouldn't be asking that question. But why not tell Hamilton not to overtake Bottas? The points scored for the team would have been the same and Hamilton would still have extended his lead over Herman.

Yeah what was that excellent Sandie Shaw song?Because they ain’t in the same team and are not saying what they are told to say..........
Oops ! Yes they and yes they did
you thought wrong.I thought team orders in F1 had been banned...?
The Brits don't seem to like a winner for some reason. F1 is a tad tedious, understatement, but Hamilton is the best driver out there at the moment by a long way. A great answer too BandyIrd, irksome though that is to type that.Nope.
I can't remember the detail, but the passing of certain types of information between pit and drivers was banned a year or two back.
At the end of the day, every team's objective is to win the driver's championship and the constructors championship, yesterday was part of achieving that.
I wonder what the reaction would have been if Hamilton and Bottas had collided while racing and both ended up on the back of a truck?
I also believe if the opposite had happened i.e. Hamilton gave up the lead to let Bottas by to help Bottas win the championship there wouldn't be such an outcry. It seems a lot of people just don't like Hamilton.
I love you too.The Brits don't seem to like a winner for some reason. F1 is a tad tedious, understatement, but Hamilton is the best driver out there at the moment by a long way. A great answer too BandyIrd, irksome though that is to type that.
That is a very sweeping statement of the sort that makes massive assumptions that can never be proved one way or the other.Because they ain’t in the same team and are not saying what they are told to say..........
Oops ! Yes they and yes they did
Correct, but by Occams razor which is more likely ?That is a very sweeping statement of the sort that makes massive assumptions that can never be proved one way or the other.
I could just as easily say 'they are both individuals who said what they personally believe rather than what they are told to say so therefore I win the argument'.
You appear to have the inside track so you tell me!Correct, but by Occams razor which is more likely ?
