Just tried to book for a Spain trip next may, first dates Portsmouth to Santander Tuesday 15th May outgoing okay, Bilbao to Portsmouth return Saturday 26th May ...no motorcycle space??? Is there something on that weekend.

Anyhow, came forward one week, all ok,
Asked if they did discount for any organisations, biking, NHS etc..
Answer, no :wank:
I thought most ferries did some discount this far in advance and by phone? :dunno:

Surely the reason you go there is to ride the bike ?

We ALWAYS go via Dunkerque and ride down ( or indeed drive down if we go in the motorhome )

Much more fun to ride than sit in a bloody cabin !

And that 5% MCN offer for P&O is only for this month and next month. Rubbish !

I dont even bother with the MCN offer for Stenna. You only get the reduction when you book nearer your departure time and the fares are more expensive anyway. I save more by booking well in advance.

Bit balls. Was also thinking Spain on the ferry and ride back up through France.

The issue with riding down is time. I'm not sure if it's better to be in the ferry bar than it is on on a French motorway if you've only got 7 days to do it all in!

Can't remember who the operator is who does the Bilbao to Portsmouth run but they used to do discount for AA members, not sure if they still do.

Better by ferry unless you've got lots of days to travel each way as well as the tour of Spain. Fast motorways all through France and back wouldn't be much fun. Just booked the Ferry for mid May and looking forward to it ! :-0)

Dutch motorail

As an alternative to consider check out railsavers who can book you onto Dutch or german motorail to get south. We have booked to go from S'hertzenborg in holland to Alessandria in northern italy for ?89 return on the overnight sleeper. Much cheaper than petrol costs, dont round off your tyres and pads, do all your riding in the sunny south of Europe, resturant car on train. If they only hitched up a brothel as well it would be perfect!

Enjoy !

?89 return ???...

I have just looked, as we would do the south of France & Monaco & Nice from there, but...The bike is ?178 return, then at least ?400 for a compartment ...Which totals at ?578... Bit more than ?89 return

Nice thought though...
