Chap called Rich Small I lnow is taking the plunge. See below. I'll pass on details if interested.

***BREMBO FRONT BRAKE BRACKET CONVERSION*** I’m going to get made some sets of front brake brackets out of billet to convert your existing delinked NISSIN callipers to fit Brembo 4 pot callipers. Any Brembo callipers will fit as long as they have 65 mm fixing centres. I need a min of 5 sets to make the run cost viable and if I can get 10 sets the price will be cheaper. 5 sets will cost me £175 a set 10 sets will cost me £155 a set plus postage at COST PRICE I am happy to post worldwide at the buyers cost I will need a deposit up front of at least £150 per set as I don’t want to get sets made and be left with brackets I don’t need. I hope you all understand. Please message me ONLY if you are serious about buying a set. So far I have 2 people wanting a set. Hopefully we can get 10 or more to keep the price down.

I'm not Valentino Rossi.

And I have no need to make up for any other inadequacies.

I ride (mostly) within mine and the Bike's capabilities. I have no need to panic brake into corners.

I was talking today about how, if a Bird is a keeper, it tends not to messed about with. They are each becoming a potential classic as the newest is now 14/15 years and and up to 22/23. I wonder how many are becoming dry days only?

I bought my Bird in 2002 (it was 2 years old then !)
I still have it and I will be going to work on it nearly every day next week (thanks to SW Trains)
It may not be in perfect condition and has its little faults (don’t we all !!) but it’s so reliable and still goes like a rocket when it needs to (y)

Beautifully blinkered outlooks in some case, the popularity of biking is definitely killing it. At least a few woke up and bothered to comments so that's cool.
The standard braking system is a good one, despite some tools feeling the need to delink either for cost or because they think they are better riders than they are. I'm happy with the standard linked system, and also happy with the 6 pots I have.
No harm in trying to improve things, so worth a punt as someone is putting the effort in so it's good to let people know.
I will feed back comments to him. x

I'm sure there is some relevance in there somewhere. Best go back to the D203 tyres I guess? :)

Will they make me ride like Marquez?

I can't see the relevance of comparing completely changing the braking system to putting old, out dated tyres on.

I can fully appreciate you can't.

Jesting aside, if you have delinked a perfectly good braking system it will provide a much better caliper and a more balanced feel rather than fucking about with calipers designed for a linked braking system. I would think it is aimed at the already delinked set up. Years ago there used to be folk champing at the bit for these brackets and others for putting Willwoods and Harrisons on

I think in biking terms the BIRD is as old as the majority of people who frequent this forum.
But while the BIRD would still have the ability to go at warp factor three the riders no longer have that desire
and are happy with the occasional three figure speedo reading to get the blood pumping. After all, we don't
want to put too much strain on our hearts!

Perhaps.

I just think that the money spent on brackets and then still having to buy the calipers, would be more fun spent on petrol and riding the bike.

Hey, Mac - get yer avatar sorted - ya look like the invisible fookin man! :D

I never de-linked the brakes on any of my Birds… and I never felt the need for “more” until the front discs gave up. Lots of two-up, fully-loaded touring meant I fitted a set of wavy Armstrongs not too long ago – August last year, actually - and I reckon they’ll last at least as long as the OEMs did. I cleaned the forks up a bit, too – and the old bus looks much better for it! (y)

Some.people.like to modify and improve and some people try to supply stuff that.is hard to get but the reaction of the pious wankers over many forums probably make them wonder why they ever bother. The popularity of biking is definitely killing it
