Interesting Bows

I was talking to my brother yesterday and he was telling me he was hoping to learn some new things at work which would give him more strings to his bow.

My question is why would you want more strings to your bow? As more than one string would make a bow inoperable as you can only attach one arrow :abduct:

I believe the term refers to the bow used on a violin, the idea that more strings produce a richer sound.

Well I never, just googled it & discovered it originates from archers carrying an extra string in reserve, all these years I’ve been misled, I’ll never believe another thing my brother tells me.

Google how the two finger insult comes from. From archery too it seems.

I thought the two finger insult coming from archery was an urban myth. Didn't the two finger salute only appear around the 1900's?

I believe its true that the froggies threatened to cut off two fingers of every English archer captured but if the story about archers putting two fingers up to them is correct I don't know, it does seem likely to me though

The saying is 'another string to my bow'
Semantics I know, but it makes it a little more understandable than 'more strings to his bow.' :)
