If he had done what I did and backed himself to win his first Wimbledon at 22-1 he might not have ended up bankrupt and in jail.

Sadly my wager was only £20 but it was a tidy win in 1985(?).

I had watched him win at Queens a week or two before Wimbledon and although I had and have very little interest in tennis he looked ridiculously good to me.

When I first read the thread title, I thought it was about your little brother Boris.

Apparently he blew something like £38million, the sort of money I have down the back of my settee

Sold for £39 million to Squag1

Brilliant :risas3:

If the club rule is an offer to sell but no price means you have to accept whatever is offered then the reverse must also be the case.

An offer to buy with no price mentioned means you have to pay what the seller requests.

Squaq1, crowd funding with a good sob story (poorly ankle!?) might scrape the first £500,000.

Only £38.5 million to go :)

It is estimated his career earnings overall were in excess of £80m. No doubt plenty of that was taken by the parasitises like agents and advisers. If nothing else renting a property in Wimbledon as his permanent residence for £22k a month when he was in financial difficulty illustrates a detachment from reality.

Sadly another person who achieved fame at a very young age and has ended up as a disaster.
