I went. Sat in the Northampton suite bar for an hour or so from 12.30 onwards. It seems Jaws downs his pints fast and had gone before we arrived.

I caught up with him boring his Thetford people as promised.

Alvin was a star. Didn't buy ANYTHING but a belt buckle for my girlfriend and a few beers.

I have never known bottle of scotch to simply vanish soooo quickly !

Sadly if you were looking for bike bits your choices were limited, but the entertainment was great ( I said DONT mention the burger ) and the atmosphere was stonking !

We came looking for yer, the Thetford crew had the bunting out as they relaxed in the peace and quite.
We even trudged over to the tin tent which was all shut up, and we couldnt hear John anywhere.
Not that we wanted to stalk yer with satnav coordinates or our address or nuff ink :-0)

Personally I think they managed to hit a new low. No bikes to sit on or look at etc. None at all. Not even bloody BMW.

You could only call it a bike show in the very loosest sense. I actually think there were more food stalls than bike stalls.

Good job I only paid £7 for my ticket, I'd be right pi**ed off if I'd paid full gate price.

I think you needed to stay for the evening entertainment to fully appreciate the price you paid. And Alvin!

Must agree with dumptruck. Took my son just for Sunday and ?28 was a bit steep.Disappointed no manufacturers.Enjoyed the ride over with mates. And the weather just about made up for it.

As Pugwash says....it's more about the social aspect of the entertainment, having a beer, a chat with your mates and the general banter than a bike show. As a show it's ok if you want a bit of cheap bike gear but for seeing and sitting on bikes the local dealers is a better bet !!!

As long as you're all tucked up in bed by midnight and snoozing gently.

Done quite a few memba rally's and used to take my lad to the tail end, but after that sham where they punted all the biker members out to elton hall, and when the marshals come round en-force to make us go to bed 'or pack up and leave' at midnight, I won't be camping with them again.

I was talking to a stall holder earlier today, he had two big tents next to HGB's and George Whites. He was saying he'd had a load of helmets stolen during sat night, tent was slashed and they'd just helped themselves, and he caught someone stealing during one of the days.

His biggest worry was how few people were there, especially considering how nice the weather was. he didn't think it will last much longer, so few stands, dealers, and less and less customers.

To be honest the showground isn't up to a biker rally these days, too close to housing, hence the early finish at night. If they considered moving it to somewhere like the Newark showground they might have a chance to develop it and save it, but can't see it somehow. A while back I had quite a chat with that Jane woman that runs the whole thing and she really wasn't receptive to any critcism, in fact she got really quite defensive about things. I really don't think she has a clue.

When I contacted the BMF once year (after clueless marshalls didn't even know where the camping was) I actuallly got a proper answer and apology from the BMF chairman.
I was fine with the way things were handled this year but there was an obvious lack of manufacturers or entertainers.

The first year they did a tail end, I really enjoyed it. They had themed marquees for each manufacturing country with matching music and beer. Another time they had a variety of music for different tastes in different cattle sheds. A good time was had by all.
