Well they have been close to collapse for a while but it would seem the end is quite possibly now well in sight for the BMF.

What makes me believe that ?
It is now asking clubs for a ?5.50 admin fee to postage etc to attend their shows.

When an organisation has to penny pinch that much it is time to walk away smartly before they drag you in to the abyss with them.

Shame really but hey.. They had the chance to drag themselves in to this century a couple of years ago but a fiddled vote ( calling on old guard members with clout rather than relying on what the real people wanted ) meant they stayed firmly in a past that no longer existed.

This might explain it :

Following a thorough review of its activities, the British Motorcyclists Federation is to outsource the organisation and administration of its portfolio of popular shows.

Event specialists the Mulberry Group, organisers of all BMF outside events since September of 2009, will now take on all administration for the BMF Show, BMF Kelso Bikefest and the BMF Tailend Show.

The decision follows an analysis of BMF activities and the resources currently available. Although the organisation of BMF events has been outsourced since 2007, certain aspects of the administration and finance have remained in house and it is these that will now be included within the new arrangement.

Speaking on the announcement, Peter Laidlaw, BMF Director of Member Services said: ?Our events have always been a means to an end, raising funds to support our primary role of representing the road rider and with Mulberry proving themselves to be a reliable and enthusiastic partner, this new arrangement will allow us to concentrate on that primary role.?

The Mulberry Group?s Managing Director Martin Chick said: "Since day one we have been committed to making the BMF?s shows a success and are delighted to have now been entrusted with the BMF?s whole event management package. As a motorcyclist, I want to see the BMF succeed in its role of representing motorcycling and we will do everything we can to assist them in fulfilling that aim by putting on top quality BMF events.?

BMF Shows 2012:

BMF Show 19/20 May, Peterborough
BMF Kelso BikeFest 7/8 July
BMF Tailend, 15/16 September, Peterborough

Oh I know the reasons.. I am actually a BMF club liaison officer
What the BMF completely fail to understand is how petty penny pinching is going to finish the shows off completely, cos if they are doing it to clubs, you can bet your life others will be wrung for every penny.. Smaller traders simply will not bother..

No small traders, no visitors.. End of

Come on you Hatters
I gave up supporting them the year they moved all the camping to Elton Hall whilst the arena was built at the show ground. I had an argument with some woman from head office who argued they couldn't let us camp in the car park and send the cars to Elton hall and bus them in, she just didn't see that WE were the bikers and supporters and should be included in the event not sent 10 miles down the road like second class citizens.
They lost my membership funds to MAG that year, and I reckon I've only visited the show twice since.
Yet another organisation run by accountants. IAM gone the same way as well.
Mag's image is borderline, and IMHO pretty well deserved, but at least they are run by bikers for bikers.
