Bluetooth Headsets

Right I know there are a lot of users of Bluetooth Comm sets on here but I have a question.

I want a simple headset that I can just use with my Gamin Sat Nav when we shoot over to Austria next month, don't need inter bike or ever pillion communication or even phone use.

For some reason (I cant remember why!) I started looking at the Sena SMH10 but it has a fixed mic boom (which I don't need coz I aint talking back to the sat nav!), Sena also sell the SMH10-11 which has a detachable boom, but you can't get it in the UK for some stupid reason.

Now they have just brought out the SMH10R which although looks smaller, has a seperate battery which you have to stick on the back of the helmet !

I briefly looked at the SMH5 which is more my price range but again has a mic boom but I suppose it could be put out of the way.

So just wondered if anyone had used any of the above or recommend a different one not forgetting it has limited use and so I don't intend paying nearly ?200.

Any thoughts ?

quocunque jeceris stabit
SMH 10 R, son got a pair from USA paid under a ton for each.
Will do Bluetooth to sat nav, phone/sat nav, bike to another, rider to another unit on pillion..
8 hours talk or 20 hours standby.

Extra battery packs avail or charge on the go.

So try USA..

trigantle

Talking of which
we ummed n arrred about new bluetooth. Dumped Autocom, fed up of them, so now we have the Senas, smh10's & sm10, not cheap, but what a cracking bit of kit. Even at bird speed :-0) there is no distortion, talk & music are as clear as a bell, & easy to use even with gloves on. But at the end of the day, you pay for what you want. We use them all the time, & can't fault them.

Edit: forgot to mention that the chap at intaride will make a lead up with the six pin helmet connector on one end and a 3.5mm male on the other for about ?17.. you can use your same helmet then mate and plug straight into the zumo ?? no waterproof etc tho but another option worth a thought ;-0))

Just been looking at this Clive, wondering if it will marry with my Zumo!! you being a "new" Zumo owner :-0) and Trent's Sena R being available for trials!!:-0) and how it works, cheapest including P&P I can find it at is £208 delivered from the US of A thats for 2 sets, which after all the fucking about with wires and bad connections is looking like a bloody good swap, I'm thinking I can get most of my dosh back by selling the expensive Autocom gear on!! :-0)

I ordered one of these today mate, I'll let you know how well it goes.

I thought the Sena's were the dogs but given the number of times I'll use it, couldn't justify over ?200 for maybe a couple of times a year, plus its only to listen to the Garmin while we're abroad really.

If this cheap one works for the 2 weeks we're away that'll do for me !

Watch this space !!

And whilst on the subject of Bluetooth....

I'm considering getting a bluetooth PMR 446 radio.
To be exact the 'Interphone TRIBE' unit. Like this one Here...

I can use it the connect the the people I am teaching the way of bike to whilst on the road, listen to sat nag, phone, music, stuff....

Has anyone used one, seen one, or know what they are likely to stand up to?
:dunno:

Do you use VOX at the minute Murt or a PTT..

The bluetooth radio looks interesting mate its just the thought of the VOX that bothers me ... think you could hard wire a PTT to it tho just the same as the others

Russ... are you going to use the Garmin on internal battery power whilst in Germany pal ??? wouldnt had thought it would last long mate ???

I can now see why Intaride never bothered developing a new system because of the rate at which the bluetooth sets are developing ...
I would really like to get rid of that helmet cable :bang:

Yes, I usually use vox, but I'm told the Bluetooth sets have an auto 'vox ' system anyway ( of sorts). I would love to get rid of the cables as well !!

bluetooth

at least three of my mates have now bought these and swear by them, although they are all using the same companys sat nav as well, not a Garmin, but bluetooth is bluetooth so it should work ok. I am considering dumping my Autocom and going this route too...not expensive either..

Only works up to 70mph

Just an update on the cheapo BT Headset.

Managed to get it on the helmet (Shoei Neotec) without too much hassle, seems like a secure fit. Went for a little run yesterday and it linked to the Garmin (765) also without any hassle and also picked up the music files on the Garmin so was playing them and the instructions from the Route were coming through loud and clear.

For ?35 I cant complain !!
