Tried taxing the bike today on line!! the bloody ticket's only run out!!:bang: no worries, takes it to a very nice man who passed it "as usual" with an advisory for a slight "notch" in the head bearings and slight "play" in the top suspension bearing?? :dunno: wanker:wank:, so having bought the new bearings from the old git, and with the receipt for the MOT in my sticky little paw, I'm told "OH NO sir" it takes a couple of days to show on line!!! ITS A FUCKING COMPUTER IT DOES IT IMMEDIATELY!!! FFS, I thought THAT was the point of every bloody thing being "on line"!! :dunno:
It's just like the piggin banks you put your money in and it disappears for a couple of days whilst everyone has a play with your cash!!
And breath!!! :)-(

I think the point being made is the fact that computer based systems used for such things as MOT, tax, insurance and driving licence matters, plus a host of other government and local authority stuff, are not satisfactory. I quite agree that once a MOT has been completed and the system closed for a particular test then the system should automatically update on the central server. The same goes for the national insurance database. Unfortunately we know to the contrary. It begs the question how the new online VEL/RFL aka tax disc system will fare when that starts in October... I won't hold my breath!

THEY don't give you an MOT now, just a receipt, and if the DVLA haven't got a record of the MOT the post orifice are hardly likely to accept what is just a photo copy of a receipt as they wont be able to confirm it's the real thing!! so traveling all the way to the nearest MOT capable Post Office would be a waste of time still!! :dunno:

I would have expected car and bike MOT's to be processed the same.

I took a car in for an MOT at 10am on a Friday morning and then taxed the car at 2pm the same day.

Everything went through OK.

The only thing I needed to show was the V5 cos the car was comming off SORN.

It would be so much easier and avoid this sort of problem if they sent you a reminder h1d1ng2

I agree but "we" are supposed to be big boys and girls and it's my own fault for 1, failing to make a note on my calender, and 2, falling out with the bastard that normally MOT's my cars and bike so he didn't send me the usual reminder!! so this year no one but me to blame!! :bang: which makes it twice as bad!!

It's the governments fault as they didn't send me a reminder sounds like some one is auditioning for " police interceptors" program.

But aren't you a big boy, that doesn't need or want the government to tell you what to do and when?? :dunno:

It was sarcasm, red owners should be used to that by now.

And no I do not rely on the government to tell me what dates I need to remember , I have a bint for that. She ain't much use for anything else. h1d1ng2

I should look on the forum more often, the main server is up dated every 20 mins but in practice it could take up to two hours. two days never!!. Atos the tossers who took over from the other tossers Siemens introduced a trial of electronic reminders for free for six months, there was very little take up and the trial was not implemented. Post offices look at your receipt but are also checking electronically but will never turn down the paper copy even if the database is not up to date. MOT's are also going the way of the interweb soon. watch this space.
