I was crossing the main road using the pedestrian bridge and saw a flock of cyclists sauntering up outside the double whites without a care to the world. Unfortunately I didn’t remember to use my phone camera until they’d gone past, amazingly they actually stopped at the red light. Perhaps they need number plates, insurance and licensing like in the Netherlands?67E4AFBA-9731-4E0F-8931-81DF568726A0.jpeg

My picture was taken too late - only one Is now in the southbound lane and the rest are now northbound, all of them were to the right of the 2 lanes of northbound cars.

We have a cycle lane on the bridge, consequently two lanes remaining are tight.
While back I come behind several cyclists using car- iageway!! Plonkers
No way of passing in traffic or without crossing white line.

I will hazzard a guess that as vehicular road users they are not lawfully allowed to except in some specific circumstances just the same as you and I in a car or on our motorcycles ..... T.C ......

Not that you would know ANY laws apply to them by watching their antics

Stationary traffic or cyclists less than 10 mph they can pass .....

That said they are still vermin.

Good to see the traditional ‘share the road with care and consideration with all other road users’ is still alive and kicking on here.

As with everything, the majority get pilloried by the actions of the minority. I would imagine the inhabitants of The Isle of Thanet are very anti-motorised bicycle as a result of the three pricks who tear around in the peaceful summer evenings treating the dual carriageways as their personal race track with race cans screaming and the solo idiot who was doing the same from 5am in the morning for an hour or so while we were there. Don’t give a toss about anyone else. Therefore, all motorised bicyclists are arrogant selfish tossers?

As an aside, I find it interesting that derek kelly posts up anti-cycling stuff almost as often as often he does ‘RIP’ threads.

I bet a physiatrist would have a field day with that.

I was deliberately keeping out of this but as you have drawn me into it here it is.
1) where do you get your info from regarding percentage of cyclists? You say the minority drag the majority down however in my opinion drawn from my own observations it appears that the minority are responsible & the majority are selfish egotistical road hogging wankers. Please provide accurate statistics & not assumptions.

2) you may be right but I think a Psychiatrist may make more of it.

And if you read paragraph 2b is refers to not crossing the white line except for where mentioned here ...... so being a prick to get to the front of a queue and holding up lawful traffic contravenes the road traffic act as far as i can see

That’s a fair point derek. And one you know that is impossible to,answer.

Going to the front of a queue where it is obvious that you are going to hold up traffic is just knobby, no need to worry about whether it is legal or not.

Them’s the exemptions tho.... but I agree. Same for all emergency services, no exemption for solid whites yet you see it on traffic cops....
