Bloody DSA to$$ers

At work we have been very busy. We have a turnover of at least Five mod 1 tests and five mod 2 tests a week plus loads of CBT training and other stuff.

We usually book five module 1 tests TEN weeks in advance and usually fill them for tests at Kirkham test centre near Blackpool on a Monday (The only day they will do bike Mod 1 tests at that location).

That means that we train during the week to get people ready for test on a Monday, then they can book mod 2 for the following Wednesday.. It works.

We have JUST had a call from chief DSA man saying all tests for Monday are cancelled "as too many examiners are off on holiday" :bang:

That is on top of Two weeks ago when the 'excuse' was.. "The examiner has not got the correct paperwork".

The week before that it was " Yesterday a lorry spilled brake fluid on the swerve area so it will be unsafe on Monday". ( Even though they KNOW that the Fire service will spray it off for free as part of a training program, they have done it before).

It may sound petty to moan, but ANY other big Company would have a leave roster or agreement for cover.
They have had TEN fookin weeks to arrange cover.

This means that the people who have booked time off work to do tests now have to re arrange at short notice, and have lost a day next Monday.

We are losing out as we are now in effect using bikes for tests that we would be using for other training. We have people wanting to do tests that we are 'stacking' awaiting new dates as the old tests are repeated. and we are all just pissed off with them anyway! :wank:

No wonder the Country is fookeds04pb0x6

The DSA is run in main by incompetent fools who have
1) No idea how to run a kids tea party let alone anything else
2) No formal training
3) Often by people who have been put in place not for a skill set but who they know

The DSA is basically a quango that does not have to answer to anyone, so they just think ( and indeed do ) they can get away with absolutely anything

Agreed!!
And to think. Next year they are merging with VOSA
That will certainly sort problems out fl4g71

Considering the one group don't talk to the others at the moment.

Murt, you have just reminded me of another reason why I am so happy that I am no longer involved in learner training. @tu*

Clearly things have not changed since I gave up 10 years ago, if anything it sounds as if things are getting worse as I have heard similar from instructors in other parts of the country.

Yes TC. Its frightening the incompetence of this lot now.

This is just one ( or more in a Month) thing, the others include stating that tests were not booked when we arrive ( even though we now print off the computer conformation as it's getting a regular problem).

Stating that restricted bikes are not of the correct restriction, even though we keep a copy of the official restriction paperwork under the seat and the bike has been used many times before ( CBF 600 for A2)

Ringing us up and demanding we bring forward tests in the day even though they were booked weeks in advance ( we just say the client is meeting us at the centre and we can't contact them).

Inconsistency with the cone layout for mod 1 test.

But apart from that, they are ok... :bang:

I must admit, I'm getting fed up of it now, and it can only get worse.

Gizza job!

Murt.

I think back to when I first started instructing under the old RAC/ACU scheme, then became a Part 1 examiner, then CBT and DAS qualified, the likes of you and I learnt our skills over a long period of time and so taught the skills for life, not just how to pass the test.

But the old sweats like you and I are becoming more and more despondent and are getting out (or looking to get out) of the business meaning that there are more and more fly boys and inexperienced people taking over or replacing the likes of you and I.

When I see or hear of the advice given by some instructors, it makes me shudder sometimes, and really makes me wonder how long we can continue like this?

It needs guys like you to at least fly the flag for experience and knowledge although you would have my sympathy if like me, you decide enough was enough.

Sadly it is the same in many areas, most worryingly the police force.
It used to be viewed as a career, a job for life.
Now it seems the new lads see it as a job .. something to do until they either get fed up or offered something better.

The training has gone to the wall, and with fewer and fewer police who actually know how to deal with the public and more and more, well lets say less well able, police in the line, that situation too is only going to get worse and worse

Don't get me started on that one.

Totally agree @tu* and these days I am often ashamed to admit that I did so long in the job. It is not the same job I joined (or left for that matter).

If you want some horror stories go onto facebook & log onto the "Know the danger" pages.
I know that it appears that I bleat on about the lot of the Prison Officer but believe me there are going to be more & more serious incidents occuring & the front line staff are going to be powerless to do anything about it.
I was actually told by a member of our SMT that the powers that be do not give a damn about staff getting injured or killed & there is plenty of money to rebuild prisons destroyed through riots but there is nothing in the pot for staff wages.

That is scary, but not unexpected considering this governments attitude to law and order, cutbacks in every area from the courts onwards. Let them off with a warning keep them on the streets regardless.
Utter :wank:

Having read the article it now begs the question..

Are the managers of the organisation going to be prosecuted for defrauding the DSA now ?
They have for many years fraudulently put forward their ability to manage the organisation when it is very obvious to all involved they are not.

That, in any language is at best misrepresentation, and at worst blatant fraud
