Outdated practices? Like hard graft? They were on good money but by god they earned it.
They were shafted (got the pun) by their so called leaders & by the Tory Government.
Both of which were led by self serving egotistical arseholes who were only in it for themselves.

good looking AND modest
Watched a programme on the strike last night, as Derek said, the leaders on both sides were working to their own agenda's!! the miners swore blind Maggie's lot wanted to shut all the pit's, she denied it, the papers now in public domain say she WAS going to shut 75 pits, Hesseltine also says it was a case of "WE" the government were not going to be ruled by the unions and it had to stop!! :dunno: so because BOTH sides were lying scum, "WE" the people have actually lost out on the millions of tons of coal still underground because none of the pits can be opened again because rather than mothball them for the future IE NOW!! where they could just open them up and dig the stuff out, each and every pit is now flooded and collapsing so unusable!! :dunno:

Wankers both lots!! "leaders" :wank:

As always the working class shut down their own mines, car plants and other industries. The gulliable were lead on by egotistical union leaders holding out for more and more money which totally out priced us in the world economy.
The average Bristish worker can see no futher than the end of their own nose and want to do less and less for more and more money, which eventually must burst the bubble, and boy has it.
As a whole the Nations employed are a lazy bunch of arse wipes who have fecked their own economy and to make things worse, employers are now worried about being sued by the shits. Any slight thing where the employee's feel there's a claim to abuse the system for thier own gains they're at it like a rat up a drain pipe. It's easy money for the shit heads without any input from themselves as it's left to the educated to implement it on their behalf. It would only take one Judge to set the presidence on a "personel injury" case to say feck off and grow up and it'd be the end of that meal ticket
It's no wondered we're possiably starting an immigration employment fiasco as the migrant workers will out work the Brits 10 fold, and we as a Nation, would prefer to sit back and watch it take place rather than rolling our sleeves up and prooving we're better.
The feck ups of this country lay soley at the feet of the British worker aided and abetted by the bankers, end of

Cost of living estimated rising at say 5% you could expect an annual wage rise of 3/4% this you could live with as you could cut down on luxuries.
Cost of living continues to rise at 5% year on year but you don't receive a wage rise for over five years what do you cut down on when you have no more luxuries?
Mortgages go unpaid, houses get repossessed.
Kids get obese as they are brought up on cheap burgers & not wholesome food
Latchkey kids as both parents are out working every hour just to make ends meet.
When I was a kid my father's wage was sufficient, my Mother later got work managing boarding kennels, this she did for pocket money.
I always made sure that my earnings cover everything so we weren't reliant on Bev having a wage, nowadays both parents need to work.
This is not down to the British workers it is down to Governments destroying industry & having petty squabbles with union leaders.

and then the internet came along and encouraged the "great unwashed" to obtain and spend far more credit than they could afford to pay

So they stopped paying the mortgages in order to try and pay off the interest on the money they'd spent on cards but couldn't afford.........

or at least the sensible ones did

The mores stupid ones carried on buying trinkets and toys; holidays and ill-afforded luxuries ...................

The debts got so great they looked for a way out ......

Let's see what happens next?

There are always going to be stupid people trying to live beyond their means but there are many genuine people grafting their bollocks off & living on baked beans.
Strange when people on benefits can afford top of the range cars & the full sky package.

Common ground then, Derek.

There are always going to be stupid people trying to live beyond their means but there are many genuine people grafting their bollocks off & living on baked beans.
Strange when people on benefits can afford top of the range cars & the full sky package.

We agree that welfare costs have spiralled out of control and need to be severely curtailed. @tu*

I seriously believe some kind of social system is a requirement in modern society, but for god sake police it harder than at present. It should be a fund for people really in the shit.
There is no way money should be paid out if the arse wipes spend it on drugs, fags and Sky. Why the hell should I pay taxes out to keep the "It's everybodies fault bar mine and you owe me a living" brigade.
As mentioned before, to keep up with the Jones the fuckwits go out and spend money they havent got, miss payments such as rent and mortgages and expect the tax payer to pick up the pieces, while they coast from one disaster to the next, forgetting that the Jones's may actually earn theirs.
I was brought up to beleive, if you want something, go out out and earn it, and if you then haven't got enough you dont get it. Spend a little less than you earn, and be responciable for your own income.
Now we're blessed with a whole society where if you aint got it, let someother bugger buy it for you.
Makes me bloody angry to hear everywhere I go fuckwits moaning that the boss want's them to work hard for the money and to think of the good of the company rather than, how early can I bunk off and can I sue them for an easier living
This country people is seriously getting fucked up by the working, or should that be non-working classes.

Looks like a lot of research for some individuals political opinions on here has been gleaned from "The Sun" and "Star" newspapers!...... Thatcher and Scargill were puppets, it's the puppeteers who are the real villains! Stephen Bercow recently described the house of commons as something akin to a "punch and Judy show".......Exactly!!!....... more puppets or muppets as the case may be? but the same people pull their strings, and have done for centuries!

I think he was specifically referring to PMQ, Jono.

So who were the puppeteers then, Jono? :dunno:
