Blackbird regulator Rectifier

Can anyone help
I had a replacement rectifier fitted. (after market) and it failed. This was replaced with a genuine part which has now also failed. My local bike shop is replacing this under warranty. Fair enough! I am concerned that there is an underlining problem causing the failures. Bike shop have checked tracker, heated grips and alarm. Any suggestions please.

Why did you have a regulator fitted?, had the previous one died?. It probably also nearly shagged the battery, which is why you are now in the position of replacing the reg again. You would be well advised to have the battery load tested, and will probably need to replace it as well.

You also need to be checking the whole charging system from generator to battery, as well as all the wiring and connectors involved, which are likely to be burned/dirty etc.

There are guides on this site on how to do this, and also plenty of previous threads detailing the steps.

Do a search or two and familiarise yourself with the XX charging system, it's a known failing and there is plenty of information available.

Take it to a different bike shop, the one your using obviously hasn't carried out the basic checks as KevXXX has mentioned :dunno: would you mind me asking, is it a Honda main dealer your using?? :dunno:

My money is on the battery.

If the charging system works at first with a new reg/rec then subsequently fails as Ianrobbo says it is probably the battery. I suggest you read the "Your electrical system explained" sticky above. :-0)

Take the battery to Halfords after charging and have them load test it. @tu*
