I think I read on here that the ones delivered to/sold in France are restricted to 100bhp.

As some of your country is French perhaps the limit applies there also. (Seriously)

France, Germany and A.N.Other I think it is that are capped at 100hp, North American ones aren't. It's any bike/all years, the limits were in before the Bird came out.

Mick , you sure about Germany ? Certainly all the german guys and gals I know have unrestricted bikes.. they do, however, have different gearing from the rest of the world.. hence the different sprocket sizes.
This was something to do with getting the bikes through the stringent noise tests..

the only other place that has bikes that while not restricted as such, are none the less strangled.. That is those specifically for california.. Apparently the zorst and regas system on those bikes knocks off a shed load of horses :bang:

No Mitch.. at least not in the normal run of things..

Of course someone may have had it restricted for some reason..

In the UK I have seen a couple of Birds restricted to just 33BHP so they can be used on a limited licence..
The only sure way to find out Mitch is to bite the bullet and put it on a rolling road..

The following is really for your info mate.. Basically as long as you see around the 133 BH figure you know it aint restricted.. must above and chances are tyour being pandered to, but that makes no odds.. the important thing is that you will know whether your bike is restricted or not...

Out of the several hundred I have checked now almost every single one of the standard bikes produced between very high 132 and mid 134 bhp at the rear wheel.. A set of cans will generally liberate 4 or 5 BH etc etc..

The reason I mention these figures is cos a lot of rolling road places like to massage your ego with big numbers ( a lot of the American guys really believe their stock birds are producing well over 140 BH.. and one noteable reckoned he had 164 just cos he had fitted a pair of Erin cans ! ..

Now I am not mocking / knocking in any way shape or form the folks who own the bikes.. it is entirely down to the idiots running the rolling roads..

And I tell you this just as a sort of 'fore warned is fore armed' kinda thing :p

No Mitch.. nothing like that at all..

If you are gonna go for a flat out run you really need to pretty much rev it out in 5th before changing up.. Appreciate there aint a lot of power at the top end of 5th but its the only way to get it right up there !

So where does the power go in 5th and 6th then John?

I know exactly what you mean though, just a strange way of putting it. Or is it for the numpties on here?:k

ever since a dyno chart lumps?????

it all runs back down the curve to the bottom again.

For the pedants out there.. There is less BHP available above about 10k R than at lower revs..

Sort of thing..

Correct, and if you rev it right out when you grab the next cog there will be more power instantly available than had you grabbed the cog earlier.

Ride it like it's an LC!
