What a conundrum ....

missus has only ever been pillion on the 'bird once .. finds it just too uncomfortable and doesn't feel secure.

Soooooo .. while "browsing" recently she's had a good look at a goldwing said if I get one she'd have no problem.....

So ... what do I do :dunno:

I followed Neil, Parttimepilot, riding my mates 1800 'Wing a few weeks ago. Bloody sparks off the footpegs . Don't let anyone tell you they don't handle. And the tyres were shagged.:bow::bow:

Well I can always let her try my pan for comfort, new gel seat and lowered pillion pegs with topbox, my wife also found the 'Bird a bit to restrictive on the back, even with slightly lowered pegs, the Pan is a whole different comfort zone, we tried the Kwacker GTR 1400, almost same position as the 'Bird, she is very comfy on the Pan, and doesn't suffer from buffeting at progressive speeds! Toured southern germany last year no problems at all. Knutsford Honda are goldwing specialists....but the prices:eek:
Happy to let her have a go on my Pan, no probs.w;;v

Have you ever tried the tiny curves in Germany/Eifel on a Wingie
We come there a lot but all the Goldwings stay down at the river.

robsbird

red ones are faster
leave her at home ........or change the wife as when they start to tell you what bike you can have its time to change her...........

Yeah I have a Goldwing as well as the bird @tu*.............. the only problem is the amount of space the wing takes up in the garage lol

D&D - I have an 1100 Pan. If you want to try that out as an alternative to the 1300 Pan get in touch. A bit cheaper than the 13's!

Thanks for the ideas guys .... I'm pondering ...

Thing is I'm more than happy with the blackbird, comfy is fine for the rider and I do like to enjoy the way it goes from time to time ...

Problem is it's a long time since she's spent a lot of time on a bike .. years ago went all over the country on a CB750f2 with tent etc to rallys and such. Was happy enough to sit all day and even doze off at times ...

Means the confidence has gone as much as anything else ... when she did try the 'bird the seating and peg position didn't exactly inspire confidence.

Having been pillion on my 'bird once I have to say I reckons it's pants really for comfort on the back

She did say the 'bird sounds really great and is super smooth ..... :-0)

The goldwing idea is 'cos she reckons the seating is mega comfy and feels that the layout will make her feel secure. Sat "in" and with lower pegs/boards etc.

I'm really not sure .. as I say .. still love the 'bird .. but not averse to trying somehting totally different ... I know I'l be happy on any sort of bike.

Garage space might be a problem .. what with nippers ped, the bird and sunbeam rebuild underway it would proly mean the 'bird going for finance/space reasons.

Have a brief look at a few but a lot seem to end up with crap chrome stuff and lights added on (often badly) or some daft personal paint jobs

Our Wing is standard with the only extra being an FM modulator to play the mp3 player through the radio. It's only a 1200 but it's a bloody heavy bugger and took some getting used to at first. The guy we bought it off was frightened of the weight with a pillion on and nearly lost it on a roundabout, he lost his confidence and wouldn't ride it anymore. It's a very 'relaxed' style of riding but bloody good on fuel. I would like a 1500 but they cost a small fortune.

One of the best bikes I have had for pillion riding was our Triumph Trophy 1200, it handled quite well and pulled like a train.
