It is a fact that the Honda CBR1100XX Super-Blackbird accelerates from 0-90mph faster than Yamaha?s mighty R1!

All the information i have come across in the mags, videos etc would suggest so, Dirty Sanchez would disagree coz he has an Arse1......
I know for a fact that even 2 up mine will kick the ass out of a '96' vintage Blade, i know coz we killed one on 3 different occasions, 1st uphill onto the A628, 2nd on a bit of straight on the A628 and lastly on the M67 in true dragstrip stylee :yo:
Can't speak for the later Arse1 but it WAS quicker than the 1999/2000 model as tested by Performance Bike mag.

no Johnny, I wouldn't disagree but I find it difficult to comprehend this sort of inane bollox TBH. Why anyone is comparing an arse one to a barge is beyond me. I think the average R1 owner is probably looking for something else other than straight line acceleration when he/she makes that purchase.
My Arse 1 is a race bike not a road bike; it ran New Era last season mate but it ain't much cop (sorry no pun intended) at two up with luggage tourong round Europe :B (know what I mean? :} ).

Dave & his R1 had just got back from Silverstone the other day & I borrowed his R1 (fresh from the track - track pressures & taped up everything) to nip up the road & back to get a new battery for my g/f's Blade. Unfortunately, I failed to notice that the tape covering the rear, front & brake lights hadn't been removed :dunno: . So I obliviously rode around hunting for a battery without any lights whatsoever, including the brake light :rolleyes: Glad I didn't bump into any old bill :}

DaveT, it was a simple yes or no question really........ Will it or won't it?
There was no question about wether or not it would corner quicker 2 up or stop quicker just plain and simple drag strip acceleration.
(( I love these questions & answers sessions coz it starts the red mist again))

JOE, why did you have display your weight on the tail section?????

mate, you have know idea how difficult it is to develop KFC's like that when it's so tempting to lean :} Surprised you opted for the number 31 jibe and miss the opportunity to take the piss out of the "yellow seat" :f :} Now let's see a pic of your lardarse leaning ya barge then :neenaw: :} Note that the arse one comes with not only GPS, heated tank pad and grips, but available extras include solar panels! :bow:

seems to me that we`re back to the difference in riders more than the bike, if paper figures are what you crave (ie badge hunting) then the the one with the quickest and biggest is for you.....look at reality and you choose the tool for the task or just go "with your heart"...........the answer is already out there in black and white ( according to the manufacturer booklets)....
bar man...get me two more pints of stella !! :lol:

Dont think a bird would beat a newer R1, but def beats the older ones with ease to be honest.. at least I have never ever been beaten by one in all the years I have played on the bird..
Mind you, that could be that I have found nothing but shite R1 riders ( they do seem to attract a certain type.. generally the ones that seem to ride a LOT faster at the bar than on the road ! )

A mate in work has a 2000 model arse1 ex mro race bike, he does a fair number of track days on it during the year and he hates coming up against birds and busa's, says they're wide and slow as trucks in the bends and then just piss off down the straights, says they are really difficult to pass especially when well ridden.
