Hi Reefer,

I used Tamiya TS30 silver spray for the base, then Tamiya X-23 translucent blue for the top coats. I don't know whether they do it as a spray, but I couldn't find one, so applied 5 coats with a very soft 10mm brush and it came out pretty well. The secret was only applying one coat a day so it had time to set hard. If you can get your hands on an air brush, no problem.

Clive,
I didn't hear you grizzling about riding a blue 'bird when you were Down Under:t . Red might be sexy, but blue is fastest, measured by your own right hand when riding mine:} :}

Jaws,
When Clive saw mine, I seem to remember he called me a sad bastard for painting the chain gold (or was that Kit?). It nearly sent me blind painting it, or was that something else?:blush:

Clive - expensive trip to Hamilton today! Two new Avon Azaro ST's, and a Black Shoei helmet like yours. Unlike the UK though, I got a black visor too as they aren't illegal over here. Helps preserve that air of mystery around females. ('till I take it off, that is):p

I did mine as close as pos to my own bike as far as the color scheme goes... i.e. silver(ish) frame and wheels.. My chain aint a posh gold one, but I painted the sprocket silver ( which is just as bad as doing the chain !! )

If anyone needs to borrow an airbrush, you pay the postage and you are welcome to borrow mine :p

errrrr........

The Tamiya kit is actually the carbed version, so in the interests if giving it the illusion of an FI version, I tried to make the vertical grilles inside the intakes rather than the mesh ones. Spent ages trying to print some on my inkjet, but gave up due to the withering sarcasm of my wife:k

A guy needs support in his endeavours, not treating like a 5 year old:rolleyes:

That's a seriously nice "K" Clive

Beautifully built mate!:lick:

Rusty Nuts ride..... hmmmmm.......

Well apart from doing a couple of hundred k's over the weekend to bed the new Azaros in, not much preparation at all. There's a 500 miler in 12 hours ride just confined to back roads in early October, but that's leaving it a bit late to get fit:p

I am going to the company gym most lunchtimes to do a bit of work, but nothing prepares you for a thousand miler other than riding lots, so I guess that's what I'm going to have to pretty darned soon, even if it is cold!:}

Are you not better selling your "real" Bird instead and keeping the model and maybe mounting it on your arm rest Or dash board (that way it never gets wet, goes round corners as well as your car and will make the Merc look classy?..) and that way you save a fortune on having to get a tow bar, trailer and bits and maybe make a couple of quid from the sale of your more powerful motor???

Just a thought?.
