Has anyone tried using a syringe? I have heard this works well but i dont really know if its true.

Actually yes, last night. Me and my mate are rebuilding his SV650 from crankshaft up.

It worked well to pull the fluid through from the master cylinder but then again finished bleeding the old fashioned way with the tube and a bottle. I have heard people saying they used a syringe to force the fluid into the system from the bleed nipple, I've have tried this but never had any success myself.

Kit duly arrived from John (excellent service ).

Removed all traces of the linked kit. I was absolutely gobsmacked by how much there was. Reffited the braided lines as per the instructions, and then bled using the tips on here. I used the vacuum to draw the initial fluid through, then completed the old fashined way. Tied the brake lever back overnight and a final bleed this morning.

Took her out for a quick spin. Now bearing in mind i have done quite a bit to her while we have had the bad weather:
6mm rear shim.
New brake lines and fluid.
New clutch fluid.
New springs and oil.
VFR bars.
Loom fix.

Couldnt go to far as i didnt have long, but so far she is riding much better than before, better handling and the brakes are fantastic.

A big thanks to all on here who have given advice, and those who have written the various how to guides to make working on the bike so much easier...
