Have spent the Christmas period ferkling the bike..

New springs, oil, VFR bars and a new front brake cylinder...

All of the jobs were dairly simple, except for bleeding those lonked brake aka the devils spawn..

Despite using 1 litre of fluid and utilising a vacuum kit i cannot get the front brakes to firm up at all. Not that they are a little bit spongy, but there is just nothing there at all.

So, i hvae bitten the bullet and just ordered a de-linking kit from Jaws, so hopefully this should cure the issues so that i can actually ride my bloody bike!

Front brakes are bog standard easy peasy, not linked hydraulically at all...

Assume you mean new master cyl ??? all connection tight etc etc all piped up correctly ????
fronts should bleed easily ??? Are you cracking the correct nipple ????

Yes, master cylinder. All bolts torqued, nipples have PTFE tape on threads as per some of the tips on here and am doing the sequence direct from the Honda manual....

I found that if you use the vacuum at its lowest level of draw the hole thing works a treat if you go mad with the vac problems will ensue, try it again with low vac @tu*

New master cylinder or second hand..

S/H but top notch condition..

Tried different pressures from 10-30 but although they both draw fluid through, the air, even though small amounts still keeps coming!

Tomorrow i shall be stripping the whole system out in readyness for the parcel from Jaws..

PTFE tape? why? No need, pointless, waste of time, the copper / ally washers do the sealing. Do the sequence it says in the manual, this is important, first though tie the btake lever to the bars and any bubbles may purge themselves through the master cylinder. Firs toff though, get rid of the tape.

Sorry mate, mustn't have made myslef clear. It is around the bleed nipple threads (no copper washers on these), not the banjo bolts.

Many previous threads on here as well as the Honda Manual suggest to do it to ensure air isn't sucked down the threads by the vacuum bleeder.

Alright mate, don't know what kind of vac system you are using but I bought a 'mityvac' and found it was great for initially pulling the fluid through the dry lines but have found, after many uses, that if I use the mityvac to just pull the fluid through to the first caliper and then go to the second and pull the fluid through (and in this case then the third) then go back to the first caliper and bleed them in turn using the old fashioned bottle, hose and spanner then it works great.

Have used a couple of vac systems including a compressor fed one and one that hooks up to to a tyre and found the same with each, I always do the actual final bleeding manually for a better finish.

Hope that helps.

Done hundreds of B-fluid changes on Cages using a Vacuum brake bleeder and never found the need for any tape to seal threads, Any air drawn through the threads will be nominal !!! And that air is being drawn at the bottom not from the Master cylinder end !

I will soon have to do mine when i get the next part of my mods done. Has anyone tried using a syringe? I have heard this works well but i dont really know if its true. There are a few guides via google but i wondered if anyone from here has tried it. It always seems a pain when starting a new build, like mine will be as well..
