Read the thread title and thought it was about red Bird riders.

Rideout results
2 blues, 2 reds, 1 black and a BMW oil burner. 11 of us took off accross the hunt centre of the UK and arrived at a Rutland for a very nice lunch, after a short stop off, someone lit Rolfy's touch paper and him and Jan set off at break neck speed towards Warwick, to see the recouperator Bodmin.
I made it to within 200 yards of the place and lost the pack as my tank was dry, and no one actually told me where we were heading. It seems the older bikes just have the edge on their tank range, as mine had been flashing red for waaaaaay too long to risk passing the BP station ( damned CATS, normal riding sees 30 miles on the flashing red )
Nice sedate speed on the trip back with my laddo.
Mileage for the day, 242 miles round trip. A very good number ( 6 bikes ) to make ride-outs quick and enjoyable without getting stuck at every junction and playing the waiting game, for the tail enders. We could all see where the next and first rider had turned in the group. Two very light 3 minute showers, never got anyone wet, and today saw my 9 year old do his first motorway pillion riding ( if a bit too fast, I might say ! )

Oh poo.. I saw you pull in but as the hossy entrance was 100 yds past the garage and had a big sign on it thought you knew where we were !

Feel a bit bad now mate.. we all stood around for quite a while waiting then someone said you might have shot off cos of the hossy visit thing with your lad ( not too pleasant and all that )

We actually went straight to the BP garage after the hossie visit, as we were getting a tad low as well...
Those cats must make a hell of a difference to the bird, as we probablyhad another 30 - 40 miles in our tank before the engine cuts out altogether...
May see you again, but maybe not with this bike... GTR1400 soon:-:

Fuel issues
No problems, I really enjoyed the day out. Being the tail gunner of our group, I did have to gun it quite a bit to make up time after you got away from junctions with the gaps in traffic, that might explain the useage.
I didn't spot the flashing red block straight away, but when I did, I kept a very close eye on the thing. I have run the risk before, 30 miles from the first flash of red, sees the engine coughing and spluttering when travelling around roundabouts leant over, so when I counted 26 miles and didn't know when it started, I had visions of Alex and I pushing the Bird. Not great for his first rideout

THat was a bit of a bugger, I did try to ring you when we arrived at Hosp, then text... sorry chap... the hosp was just a minute up the road (2 on a silver one). I had about a 1/4 tank left, but we topped up at the same BP on way out.
Best bit was your lads face after his plate of chips arrived and we all shouted 'ah chips' and preceded to walk towards him... I dont know if he wanted to run off with them or pray we would'nt nick too many... the relief on his face when we said... its ok only joking.:yo:
