"Antiquated" (y)

Seriously, I think the Bird still looks fantastic other than the seat and a seat cowling tailpiece thing which still looks like it was designed for another bike to me. I remember seeing pictures years ago of a fluorescent red Bird that had an R1 seat and tailpiece....that was the absolute business.

I like the R1 tail but I did not like it enough to use one, preferring the 916 look

The tail from a skunk would look better than the stock item!

They always seem to miss the point of the styling, especially the headlight. At 180mph there's a lot of air to displace so styling gets compromised in favour of aerodynamics, hence the design of the headlight.

Personally I think the headlight is one of the better styling points on a Bird.

Yes it was also a noticeably a better beam pattern compared to the Busa

Good video (y)

I always liked the shape of the top fairing & headlight I think the design was way ahead of its time, pretty efficient too

Re RI tailpieces,
I used an R6 one on a GPZ I built when the R6 was less than 6 months old but its been done to death since then & there are much nicer things you could use now

Take any other superbike from that era, compare its style against the Bird and I think most other bikes will look dated now. Whereas the Bird just looks timeless.

I didn't say I didn't like the headlight's looks, though I wish it was better at lighting up the road. I actually think the styling is a classic that doesn't really date.

Although my night vision isn't as good as it used to be I never had a problem with the stock headlight if fact I don't even know what bulb was in there as I never felt the need to look & I did a lot of riding in the dark or in bad weather :nusenuse:

Just wondering if some of the comments I have seen about it being poor are more down to the riders eyesight than the light itself ? we are all getting older & all our eyes will be deteriorating ;)

The difference between stock and HID was like night and day to me so I would say no it's not a night vision issue.

Never had a real problem with the standard headlight.

Apart from coming home from Matlock be after one of the Friday evening meets when the dip beam had blown.

Usually did half the route home with Murt.

Settled for him in front and me following on sidelight as if I was in front it went very dark when high beam went off for oncoming traffic, as well as the fact I disappeared to said traffic!
