Thanks so much to everyone for the advice given here. I'm now starting to formulate a plan for the way forward through this mess.

Cheers.

of course everyones presuming the other car driver is actually insured. Maybe he's offering to pay because of a lack of insurance?

I could in no way advise you to go to askmid and put in his registration as though you owned the vehicle as that would mean you having to tell a porky pie

Ooh. Thanks for that. Checks out fine according to a close mate who just tried it. And named the correct vehicle.

Awesome.

Just starting to price up parts on David Silver Spares. Most of the fairing panels and nosecone are not listed. Guess I'll have to email them a list of my requirements.

If anyone has a contact email/phone for Taffy, that would be useful too thanks.

Thinking outside the box

I have a works colleague whos looking for a Bird engine to put into his Caterham. He was originally looking for an FI but I may be able to persuade him to go for a carby.

Much as I hate to see a working bike broken this one is only £1500 and has all the body panels etc you need ready to rock & roll

I reckon a fair price on a good working engine with associated electrics is say £700 , that leaves you in at £800 and you can still resell on anything else you don't need

That's a really interesting idea and I will bear it in mind thanks, but I have to say that even in those small pics I can see scratch marks on those fairings like you get if you let the bike fall over partly, and I have to say I wouldn't be happy with the Delke(hole I the power band)vic pipes, having already had to get rid of their headers on my bike for originals.

Let's see what happens over the next while as I progress this. It could still be an option. Cheers.

Now, if you can find one without scratches, and with an Acropovic, get back to me quickly! :)

Well a Taffy respray is IIRC from other posts around the 650 mark which leaves you in at 1450 so if the guy genuinely can give you ?1500-2k in hard folding cash quids in :)

OEM Cans go cheap on fleabay (hell I have some Catted ones you can have for free)

The bike looks scruffy, and that is backed up by the price, which is rock bottom.

My bike isnt scruffy. I could need to spend a fortune to get that bike anywhere near mine.

The first one would be the best option with a Taffy respray on the panels and put them on yours.

You've also got all the other bits to put onto yours

Anyways I've just noticed the time.

Have a think about my original suggestion and I'll check with Andy in work about the carb v FI thingjust in case it's feasible for you.
