Here in West Mids we have Birds for plod bikes, but they are only used on the covert section, thus the bikes are left as standard apart from a concealed radio pack.
We tend to use the gun metal grey & silver ones as they blend in and dont give out large signals. We use them for thier speed, comfort, mile munching and tank range.

What more can you say.

Every lunch time at work I usually see 3 marked police bikes go past in a group, recently I've seen a silver bird followed by 2 silver VFRs (I think),
i presume its a training course for police riders.
At a local bike night the BIKE SAFE people were there.(they are police riders who do riding courses for the public and general ride safety stuff). They had a silver bird fitted with Blues and Two's and a camera (the top box had a scrren inside for watching the playback). They also had a busa fitted with blues and two's only.

My '99 injection model was first owned by the National Crime Squad and was used as a "stealth" pursuit vehicle. It still has the plugs for the intercoms and wiring for the blues and two's, but I don't think I'll be needing them, funnily enough!

Martin,

Having done my job bike course the South Mimms is one of the places we stop at for a rest/donut, or just pass through. I suspect you probably saw an Advanced bike course out and about on a trng run from Hendon. The met uses Birds for this type of trng.

There was a black blackbird outside the ace cafe on my last visit, and it was used by a copper on the Police run bikesafe, along with a few semi-marked bmws, could have been this one you saw :dunno:

When I did my Bikesafe at The Warren, and also having spoken to a couple of the Kent Police Motorcycle guys, it seems that BIRDS are the fave off duty toy that these guys own.
