My Merc masterpiece ’sees’ speed limit signs, including temporary ones, and flashes on the display. It also has a speed limiter fitted. Now if they could only make it drive according to the limits it sees I’d be very happy.

when I pop across to Europe in a week I wonder how the speed limit recognition will function? Will it eg show 19mph in a 30kph limit? Soon see .

My Toyota also recognises speed signs & keeps me updated with the speed limit, it also has a speed restrictor that I never use, who needs over priced German crap?

My Jag has a forward facing camera which, amongst other things identifies the speed signs & displays the speed limit on the dash. If I go 10mph over the limit it flashes. Doesn't work if the speed sign is partially covered though, like a branch or if the sign is a bit grubby.

The new Dacia Duster apparently sends a laser beam that cuts through branches that obstruct speed signs.

My Vitara comes with a small audio warning system which kicks in automatically when I exceed any speed limits by a specified percentage..... it's called "SWMBO".

Interesting, my 2016 E class has the ‘recognise the speed limit’ thing and there is a setting to make it alter the active cruise control to that speed. Trouble is, it sometimes thinks it sees a speed limit sign that isn’t there, hence I don’t use that function.
