Better/cheaper alternative to main dealer servicing~~~??

He's just done a 16K service on my steed

a] Better attention to detail

b] Knows the BIRD intimately [ooo err]

c] He provides FREE coffee

d] You can watch / take part - helps you learn a lot about the internal workings of your BIRD

e] It's a damm site cheaper than Honda Main Dealers.

f] If you're prepared to get ya hand dirty and get stuck in as well, the time is reduced and so is his bill!!!!

I made the trip from Derby to Thetford - well worthwhile - day away from the office - glorious sunshine - what could be better?

The added cost of 2 x tanks of fuel [round trip] was more than compensated by the saving on main dealer prices - and serviced by a guy who knows the BIRD inside out and actually cares about the work he does.

No bull - all quality.

Consider JAWS next time you need some work done on your bike - time and money well invested

Right.. black stuff..
I will say up front that I was not gonna say anything.. even though it was proly one of the funniest moments I have had in a long long time !p
Soooo,
oil drained filter off.. while the old oil drains right out I start doing the top end.. carbs off etc etc to do the valve clearences..
After about 10 minutes I ask FB to spin the new filter on, fit the sump plug, and put the new oil in..
I am still fiddling about on the top end and FB has spun the new filter on and has walked to the bench to get the new oil.
'Got a funnel mate ?' asks FB.. Yup.. on the 50 gallon drum or words to that effect...
FB get funnel, removes oil filler cap and starts to poor oil..
All the time I am still not taking too much notice ..
Suddenly FB stops dead, looks up at me and asks......
'Errrr.. should this oil be black ?'
Nooooooo, you are using someone elses old oil,,, try the one in the sealed container !
It was the concerned / surprised look and the genuine worry in the voice !
We both just cracked up for about 10 minutes !! :}

And I should explain FB service did involve extra's
I charge ?20 per hour labour plus parts.. Soooo,,,
Someone getting stuck in with me and reducing that 7 hours for a 16 K service by a decent amount makes a decent saving..
In fact ( and this is gonna earn me nil points with the ladies ! ) using womans logic, you get an almost free service ! How?
Right.. say for instance there is 6 hours labour.. By doing the job double teamed it gets done in 3 hours.. You have saved 3 hours labour.. A penny saved is a penny earned. There fore you have earned 60 quid... and the labour bill has been is equal to that amount..
Ergo you have earned the cost os the service ! LOL !!!
This 'logic' came out many years ago when woman bought something in a sale..
It was knocked right down to under half price. She bought said item, and as she had saved so much decided to go buy something else with the dosh she had saved ... When asked about it she said that she had still not spent as much as the normal full price of the first item and we could therefore afford to have a meal out !!!!!!!

thats not all...i managed to knock one of the guy`s cold out whilst getting back in the raft !
Poor bloke was only trying to help me back in after fallin gracfully into the fast flowing section:}
as i was pulled back in the padle "T" piece hit him square on the bridge of his nose and he was spark out.....They would let him get back in the raft and made him walk back (once he`d come round)...

the scene was set...fantastic day white water rafting in Bala, what a rush !! wet on the outside and a little bit on the inside ( don`t tast as good as beer):} back to the hotel at Corwen....carnival day..pubs heaving, fancy dress, cold beer , sun blazing down, beer garden lovely.......wazzed by 18.00 :beer: :beer:
to top that England go and stuff the Aussies and Wales loose in style....and i never ( honest) rubbed it in with the locals at all...... :f
Next year is booked already if anyone fancies a rafting experience let me know.......

The oil had come out of Chunky'y bike - so was hardly used at all!!
