Probably not.
Woke up this morning with the idea of
clearing out some of my wardrobe excess. Thought about sending some
clothing that doesn't fit me anymore
to the poor sods in Ukraine.
No, not that jacket.....silly.
Did a bit of research as to where I could
send the parcel and to which charity would be willing to collect or accept my donations?
It seems that it's a crap idea.
Why? Well i'll tell ya.
Tonnes and tonnes of already donated
clothing is sat at the presumably Polish
border and is awaiting to be processed.
They have no storage facilities nor manpower to distribute said donations
as this would incur huge storage costs
that would impact on other more pressing
essentials like food and water.
Then, after the crisis is over (if ever?)
the environmentalists have raised a red flag concerning the amount of unused clothing and the cost of land fill or rather not thus creating another environmental unwanted crisis.
Even donations of baby milk powder has raised concerns due to contaminated water and the lack of sterilisation equipment.
Apparently they need cash donations and lots of it, either by crypto currency or donations vie e-bay and the likes.
So....before you fall over yourselves trying to do the humanitarian right deed.
Go hunt around your properties for spare cash and any unused clean armaments.
Slim...I think your true vocation has come to light, bayonets are still handy I believe.

You will almost certainly find a local ‘support for Ukrainian refugees group when they arrive in UK’ that will gladly take your generous donations - have a look on your county council website, there may well be details.

In fairness the message from early on is that donations of cash rather than goods was what was and is needed.p rather than physical goods.

It was difficult enough dealing with well meaning food/goods donations down here relating to the pandemic so half way across Europe with the additional logistics is going to be massively harder. It’s logical really - ten tons of tinned food donated in the uk needs to be transported. The same cash value can be used to source goods locally such as Poland reducing time and additional cost.

as an aside, some of the stuff donated down here was bizarre!
