Marshall Honda Motorcycles in Boongate have taken over, so at least they answered the phone! Has anyone any experience of Marshall?

They said the 24k mileage service is 3 hours for fluids and valve clearances. I thought it was 30k?

24K is coolant and oil change, so easy you should DIY.

Clearances are at 16K intervals, not an easy job unless you know what you are doing. They either dont know, in which case steer well clear, or else they are just trying to get the bill up, so steer well clear!

Cheers Richard, got it booked in there now. Much better, as the lady even said the next valve clearance check was at 32k. Marshall didn't even ask why I was cancelling, else I'd have said exactly why.

I used to go to Baldestons a few years ago, until I came a cropper to their random over-pricing.

Marshalls IS Bernards ..... almost.
I have heard that the bulk of the Bernards staff are relocated to the Marshalls location.

It is part of Hondas?policy of putting cars and bikes into the same buildings to save money.
Shame that no self respecting biker wants to go near a fucking car dealer to buy a bike.......

Like Richard, I can recommend BSD at Eye. They sorted my Strom out for me without resorting to fitting a Power Commander.
Excellent guys.

It's a shame the guy I spoke to seemed to to be after making some ill-gotten income then, because I have nothing but praise for the Bernards mechanics from the times I went. It may have been a simple mistake except I even questioned the mileage on the phone when I first rang. My bike has just exceeded 25k.

Any names you want dropping to BSD for your finder's discount?

They never saw Kylie, so they didn't know anything about that POS.

Don't forget that just about everyone who saw Kylie that first day I had it, realised that it was a ringer (except me of course), so my gripe was, and always has been, with Taz Motorcycles (as was at the time).

It was eventually resolved, and I had the ZX9R.

And now the Stroms' appetite for engine munching has been sorted, I be as happy as a clam.

and a happy clam at that. R#?

Why do we alwasy hear bad things about

Taz Motorcycles?

Is it because they're a bunch of theiving little shits? Or, is it because all their bikes are shite? Or just because they're a bunch of arrogant arsewipes?

Hmmm, let me think!!!!!

I'm taking my Bird in to BSD at Eye as well, following a recommendation. They always seem really friendly and have the time for you, which is always nice. Some basic manners never hurt, do they? Marshalls have taken over Bernards and Paul Rudd is still running it, as he was at Bernards, BTW

Hmmm, let me think!!!!!

My problem bike had a bent frame and was a seriously clocked and rung bike, but despite all the evidence to that fact, they still kept me waiting for 8 months before giving me a full refund for the money I'd spent on the 'Bird.

That however didn't cover the service, tyres, head bearings, the unprovoked tank slappers, the inability to hold a corner line (this case it was the bike and not me!) sleepless nights of worry about the thing etc etc etc....

but I must also add, that it was the "old" Taz that I was dealing with, not the new "Riders" version.

So, if anyone has bought W811MWB recently ......... you're in the shit now!

I bought it around August 2002, and got my "refund" around end of March 2003, (had the ZX9R until the September when I chopped that in for the Strom).

The 'Bird went back into the showroom for resale, and it was only after I threatened to bring in the Local Trading Standards bods, (cos obviously at this point Taz now knew from all the collected evidence that the bike was a ringer), that it was withdrawn from sale. I don't think they knew it was when they sold it to me. :dunno:
When I came back from Germany a few weeks later (Bird meeting in Bad Nenndorf I think) the bike was no longer at Taz, so I assumed that it was traded out, but from your search, obviously some poor sod has a liability on his hands somewhere.

Do a search on "Kylie" and all will be revealed (the bike I mean, I wish the other!).
Tis a bad un, ask Jaws and others on here.

I've mentioned this before, but Taz service mechanics are the ones who claimed my girlfriend's rear brake drum needed a spring that was missing. Also missing from the service manuals, my Haynes manual and funnily enough they took a week "looking" for it with Suzuki. Bernards sorted it out by replacing a worn brake pad.

Well, bike has been seen to. Previous services have clearly been at shoddy places (Bernards in P'boro, Riders in Whittlesey), as there was a few things wrong with it that I was never told. It's back home now until I get a replacement back tyre sans-oil, a holed exhaust patched/replaced, rusted forks replaced, etc.

Riding home in the wet on a slippy back tyre was er, fun.

Anyone wanna buy a Red Bird, no questions asked? c7u8
