In all honesty Wolfie...

... it would be easier to count the people who DO come on here now...

I know it says 1500 members, but how many of them "Actively" post on here ???

I bet you could count the regulars on 3 or maybe 4 hands...:eek:

which is about the same as regularly use IXXRA......:blush:

funnily enough, I had a friend round today, who said "what happened to all the rideouts we used to go on" ?? I couldnt answer him.... If I look back about 18 months, it seemed every other weekend we had something to look forward to (ride out/BBQ/weekend meet), but it seems to have tailed off to next to nothing.

Has anyone else noticed this ??

Just my thoughts,

Rolfy

Agree with ya Rolfy......last year seemed to be very quiet on the weekend rideouts. I'm not a great one for mass rideouts....but it's nice to meet peeps at a venue for a natter. Perhaps peeps have found other interests......and the biking is taking second place ???? :dunno:

I would say that it is pretty much like most things, subject to troughs and peaks, things tend to meander along for a while, then you get a certain mix of personalities that just click there you have your peak, some leave for whatever reason, then comes the trough,
I can't speak for anyone else on here but if I look back there are things that I used to do that I was very enthusiastic about at the time but as time changes so do I and sometimes I lose that enthusiasm, I think it has something to do with age when you get to 47 you think differently to when you were 27, if I am honest when I was 27 I didn't think I would reach 47
That's life I suppose.

Feckin zero posters.....Waste a time :rolleyes:

Sorry Mac...ROFL

But it is true... before last year, we had such a full social(biking) diary, we could hardly get any more into the time available...2004... feck all really... Dont look much better this year, but its early yet.

I am trying to organise my annual birthday meal & ride out...Chinese this year methinks...

Must admit to missing Samster/Joe Orchard/Big Rich & Kim, etc... Seems we lost a few good folks...

Cheers,

Rolfy

Biking taking second place? Never, well only to sex I guess :}

Seriouslyish though Steve, as you well know, I ride out most weekends, and that's just it, I like to ride........................not stand around gassing g0551p . Also, I like to choose who I ride with & I'm certainly not into all this "can I hold ya hand please" formation riding :rolleyes: , which seems to appeal to some here; hence I never post ride-out details , not that anyone other than the usual suspects want to ride with me anyway :B

From here, Ben, Dave T, Russ, Trotsky (occasionally) & I meet up & you're welcome to join us anytime dude :bow:

Last year was quiet in the rideout dept for one main reason...
As much as most of us ride in all weathers, there is no fun in going for a fun ride in the pissing rain.

last year it rained,,, then it rained, and later on it rained.
Then just after that it rained, and then it just rained and rained..

In other words chaps, it was the weather that reduced the rideouts,, nowt sinister ( as in strange, not as in left handed ! ).

BTW, what makes folk think the membership figures are anything at all to do with the forum ?

They ( the forum and the BIRD membership ) are, and always have been, kept seperately.
We have quite a few people who are members who do not have forum membership, and there are some who do not own a computer ! One chap and his family who have been to every bash bar the first who always books by post as he does not have any electronic coms whatsoever ! And yes, I write him letters too on real paper.

People take it for granted that BIRS is all about the forum, and all about e-mails etc.
On average I get 3 or 4 queries from members every week.. most of whom are not forum members and have never visited the forum..
There are letters and all sorts of stuff flying about from here, and I know for a fact that FB is often under as much pressure as I from peeps...

So please guys, do not think for one minute the forum is the be all and end all..

Yes, we, the forum members, are the elite of BIRD ( yer right LOL !!! And look, another winged pig ! ) but there are many MANY members who are not on here at all.

Should have exchanged contracts last week, Dave......some hiccup with one of the buyers further up the chain and problems with her deposit money. :cry: So we're hoping for a closure early next week now. House is out in North Kent, village location, short walk to the sea, even shorter walk to the local boozer !!!! :}
