Derek, from what you've said in previous posts, I would keep me gob shut at work if I were you,!! :dunno: think your thoughts and just do your job, cos you know the "powers that be" will shove it up you at the slightest opportunity, and if they can prove you are a disruptive influence that'll be your pension gone!! :dunno:

Maybe ?? maybe not, though we do know she covered up for someone that did
Yes - but she didn't know what he had done! Dont you remember the case or what!

She lied for her boyfriend, WITHOUT the knowledge of his crime, - something that many women would do for their men.

I think your confusing her involvment with that of the very evil Huntley. I'm not condoning what she did, but it has to be remembered that she did not knowingly harm anyone. She has suffered dis-proportionately as a result of that case. She is not a danger to anyone in the sense you believe....

Fact she knew two kids were missing
Fact she provided him with an alibi
If someone asked me to provide an alibi in that situation I am afraid alarm bells would start to ring
she claimed he was a violent control freak and that she was scared of him.
maybe she had no part in the killing but she knew exactly what she was doing in covering for him.

No she didn't! That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. That was established at trial. Fact.

Unfortunately Rob British law is not infallible and people do get away with crimes, and maybe Maxine Carr did pull the wool over everybodies eyes, maybe I am cynical perhaps it comes with the job, paedophiles make the best liars, they are first rate when it comes to conditioning people, I have sat through trials where Paedophiles are lying through their teeth, and are proven to be lying but because of points of law they get off with it, I watched a rapist win his appeal because it was claimed he escaped through a window when he actually left via the door, that was the point of law that got him off a good lawyer can work miracles for these bastards.

Answering to nobody
Remember Brady & Hindly, 4 miles from my house where they had their base..

Remember Fred & Rose West...

They were women covering for their partners in many ways HOWEVER i am gonna side with RobP in some respects, Carr was unaware of the crime until she was in tooo deep, she feared for her life and it was PROVED she was unaware until after her initial alibi statement, she believed she was assisting a trivial cover up.
Maxine Carr is NOT in the same league as Hindly & West....

I go back to my job in January after a looooong time away and i need to be focused and neutral but its very difficult when you know someone is scum..

I appreciate what you're saying Derek, and couldn't agree more.

But she isn't a paedophile is she?? She hasn't got any history of such behaviour has she?? She has never harmed any person or child. She isn't that category of criminal.

She WAs a stupid liar BUT she had no idea he had killed those girls, and therefore had no grasp of the gravity of her lie - and what person would suspect their own partner? Imagine a murder in your community, and you start looking around for likely candidates. Someone close would be the last person you would suspect. Your resolve in that belief would be even greater if your partner had been wrongly accused before (as she thought he had - but which turned out to be a failing by the Police, if you follow my drift!) I just don't think she is bright or astute enough to pull the wool over the eyes of the whole system.

I understand your explanation of the failings of British law - I know only too well to my own cost. I still think she got tarred too much by the Huntly brush. Emotions went wild over these killings (quite rightly) but it's surprising how so many folk still believe her involvement to be far greater than it actually was. A LOT of people think she was directly implicit in the murder act itself, which of course she wasn't.

That's my understanding of it anyway, and I followed the case quite attentively, as I wasn't working at the time!

Well.......

I Love Kids !!!!!

Especailly covered in breadcrumbs, deepfried, and served with curly fries & a nice salad.

This is getting a little too feckin serious...

She was convicted of a crime, has done her time, and is out now...End of story.............

Whether or not she pulled the wool over anyones eyes is none of our business...

Either we trust the legal system... Or we dont......

All she was convicted of was telling lies to provide an alibi for her partner (which I think a lot of wives would do if they thought their partners were innocent) because she loved him.

I also think paedo's & child killers should be shot/hung/castrated/ executed. But that is not going to happen in my lifetime...I also thing theives should have their hands cut off (as in the middle east- they wouldnt do it again then)

So lets get back to biking eh ???

As the woman said when she just missed crashing into my car

"Smile"

Happy Xmas all,

ROlfy
