just got back from assen, first suprise was we had to strap our own bikes down(is that just dfds or do they all do it)next prob was when we got to our hotel in buinen the reception had never heard of us,despite me having booked it in december 2004,but the hotelier got us in to another hotel which was really helpfull.we missed the rain on friday night, the rest of it was great, roads, the ferry, the dutch, the people we met,the race, the easy going attitude of the officials at the track(apart from the walk from the bike park)the downside was the two english bird owners who i went to have a chat with, these two must have been the exception rather than the rule so if it was you and you frequent this site you are an unsociable miserable bastardman8um

Just got back from Assen myself last night, had a great time.First time in 5 years we haven't got drenched! It's usually the case that you have to secure your own bike, well, with Stena line who we go with anyway(Harwich-Hook of Holland). We stay in Groningen which is a great place, but as you say Ritchie, don't think it matters where you stay in Holland, people really friendly.
