Automated telephone messages

Have just found out that when you phone through to a company that has a computer automated system where you have press 1 for ......, 2 for ......, try repeatedly pressing 0 and # alternatly, this should confuse the computer and put you straight through to a staff member. No more masses of options keeping you on the phone running up the bill.

that is when you take yer money elsewhere as soon as you can.

Its probably been mentioned before but most of these companies deliberately keep you hanging on their 0870 or 0845 numbers that charge more than normal calls. Do a search for saynoto0870 and you'll get the web site that gives the geographical or the freephone number rather than the expensive one. I try to use it as much as possible cause I hate the principal of these robbin' barstewards takin money for nuthin.d04l1ng
It probably wont get you through any quicker but at least your not gettin ripped off.

Or alternatively, companies sometimes put a number on to call if you are outside the UK. Just use that but instead of putting, for example 0044 1226 123456, put 01226 132465, problem solved!

I remember listening to the Jeremy Vine show on Radio Two last year when they had Martin Lewis, Moneysavingexpert.com on. He was saying you can get your own 0845 etc number, so then you can get your own back on banks etc by giving them that number whenever they ask for it.
