If I wanted to temporarily seal up my up and over metal garage door with a silicon type product that would be easy to remove in the spring, what product would you reckon to use...?

I've got some frame sealant which I've already used to seal off the frame, and other gaps about the garage, and it is really good stuff but would be difficult to remove and clean up later, so I don't rally want to use that. Frankly, I'm probably looking for something that actually doesn't stick TOO well..... so that I can get it out again without too much hassle!

Any ideas...?

Use the best quality sillicone sealent you can buy in the same colour as your garage door. Now smear vasaline on to the door opening it self and not on the outer frame, pipe around the gap to be filled ( you can even use a wet finger to smooth it in ) making it as neat as possiable. Now you should have a tight a fitting door as you are going to get, but it shouldn't be actually stuck and with any luck, be good for several years to come.

(Amendment ) dont buy the crap you get in the sheds ie Wicks, Homebase, B&Q etc, it's all too expensive and bollox. Go to your friendly double glazing co'. They will be cheaper and a LOT better quality.

as "someone wot knows" slap a bit of carpet up and just use a spray on glue, it will be easy to take off in summer and most residue will stick to the carpet!! making life easier then!!

Instead of vasaline, use sellotape. I had metal frame windows in my first house and sealed them up with silicon on the frames and tape on the opening window frames. Shut the windows, let set, open windows, remove tape and you have perfect none sticking seal! Viloa!!!!!
