Why do you bother?

Dogs cover the house in hair and fleas

Menace to pedestrians, drivers, bike riders and anyone else on the road / path / pavement - particularly those with "extendable" leads - just stand there and let the animal run amok for yards and yards

Mobile shitting machines whilst out - and before you start I'd estimate only 33% of owners pickup their dog crap which means 66% don't bother].

Why shoud dog "owners" be allowed to let their dogs crap on the same piece of grassland that MY kids will play on next summer

Spotted a Dog "Owners" this morning outside my house..............

As normal - he DRIVES to the edge of the grassland - lets the dog out of the back seat - sits on the bonnet of the car having a smoke whilst the dog runs about freely

So..................

Outside the house..............

"Oi You"

"Are you going to pickup the dog sh*t your animal leaves behind every day?"

Reply "What's it got to do with you?"

FB response "Almost as much as when I post the last 180 days worth of crap through your letterbox"

And at that he calls the dog - gets back in the car and phooks off

FB Left dumfounded

Fecking dog owners - shoot 'em all

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr [dog noise] RANT over

There's a dog owner here you can have a pop at.

Bit of a sweeping statement that. I carry a pocket full of tesco bags every time I take the dog out. No need to though coz he has his own corner of my own yard that he uses and won't do it anywhere else.

As for the rest. You have to be a dog lover to understand that. If my house set afire I wouldn't leave it without my daughter OR my dog

How short sighted of you to ask a dumb-ass question like that! Why did you bother to have kids??

Kids cover the house in sick and toys. Slipping over on either can cause broken bones.

Tell that to a blind person, or to a lonely elderly person living alone whose dog may be their only source of companionship.

Bit like babies really. However, unlike babies, dogs are quiet at night. Unless you have an intruder, of course. And babies stink of shit most of the time.

A lot of kid owners are happy to let their kids out into the street to run around unsupervised, kicking balls, tin cans, pieces of wood etc against my car, garage door, back fence etc. Why is it ok for parents to let them do that? "Cos they have to play somewhere" is the usual reply.

Gettin' the picture now FB.......?? :t

I know this is a stupid thing to post ... but...

how come when we wuz lads.... no one bothered about dog shite anywhere....

We all pissed ourselves laughing if someone trod in it, or fell in it.....

It never did any of us any harm (apart from being called Stiky untill we had been in the bath)

All of a sudden, you have to pick up after your own dog or risk criminal charges.

Dogs have always run about shitting everywhere when they wanted to. So what has changed ?????????????

Dog shit is still dog shit....

Kids are still kids......

Life goes on...

I have never owned a dog either, but I like dogs (specially the Alaskan Malamute)

Seems to me that we are becoming paranoid about cleanliness/hygene to the point where we build up no antibodies to anything (germwise). Just take a look at all the paraphenalia to clean your house/garden/car/bike etc... We seem to live in a sterilized world these days with no chance of resisting any germ or bacteria which shows its ugly head...

Am I alone in noticing this ???

Surely not.

FB... I hear what you say about wanting to protect your kids. I understand, and I do the same for mine. This was just an obsevation, and not a dig...

Best wishes to all,

Rolfy

ps.. sorry if I went on

My Akita, Jasper, agrees with you 100% Bert and would welcome an opportunity to discuss it with you in more detail.

Excellent ROB, i so far have avoided having kids of my own as i prefer dogs...
A lot of parents think its their absolute right to have kids when in actual fact its a privellage.
I'd be lost without my Labradors.
When did a dog last smash up the bus shelter and TWOC ya car?????

Definitely not. I've been saying for years that we're getting too sterile. We're not being exposed to enough germs to build up any resistence, which is far more dangerous than constant exposure. Combine that with mild winters, when the bugs just don't get killed off, and we've got all the makings of a major epidemic, primarily created by the government's drive to sanitize our existence for us!

However, dog shit is another matter. It contains bacteria that can cause irreversable blindness, so should always be picked up, particularly in areas where kids play. The bacteria can linger for many months after the shit has disintigrated, so is still hazardous when not so obvious.

Not sitting on the fence here, just making (IMHO) two valid points.
