Are YOU proud to be a BIRD member ???

ianrobbo1

good looking AND modest
Are YOU proud to be a Gay Pride member ???

Ive been wondering just recently WHO is proud to be a BIRD member and why?? :dunno:
for myself, I get a good deal of laughs from some of the posts on the forum, and Ive met some really nice people, on both the rideouts and social nights, such as the Matlock meet and the Derby "and joan" meets, Ive attended,
the Bash enables me to meet the others of you that live in distant parts :bang: so I can get to meet the people that are taking the piss out of me, :}
BIRD has helped me no end to sort any "problems" I may have had with my bike, and also enabled me to buy a great many parts at "discount" prices from Jaws, 1200 Pete and the like,!!
so, how about yourselves ?? :dunno:

Well now for me BIRD has turned me from a probable into a definite!

Even with birdless beginings I have enjoyed the banter made some new mates and got a lot of advice which I hope to put to good use very soon! Having had a look at Ixxra IMHO its not as user friendly a site which has put me off it, although obviously the people are just the same as us. (poor sods) There is always something on here worth reading/joining in/ranting about/laughing at.
Birded or not its the people that make the site what it is

Dunno whether Proud is quite the right word

... but I get huge pleasure from being a member. When you're stuck at the other end of the world, it's a wonderful way of sharing a common love of Blackbirds and biking in general. Also for the help so freely given by members in helping to solve problems or answer queries. Without the site, I wouldn't have hooked up with Jaws and his great service either.

More importantly, Jennie and I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet Clive and ride together in NZ. We regard Clive and Kit as very close friends and can't wait until Clive brings Kit on the next trip Down Under. Although we have yet to meet, the same sentiments are true for Steve and Helen Walker, Skippy and for Russ and Sue Cruse, whom most people will be aware are due here to celebrate their honeymoon in less than 3 weeks. We hear lots of bad things about the Internet, but extending friendships is one of the great things about the 'bird site.

And just to give some balance, there are bluntly a few complete plonkers on the site who contribute little and just seem to be there to piss people off. Seeing this is the same for any cross-section of people, it doesn't personally bother me much, I just ignore them. However, I do think it detracts a bit from the fantastic value of the site.

Well there we go.... I've said my piece for better or worse and best wishes to you all from a remote part of the world

IXXRA serious??? There must be two IXXRA's as well then coz the one I'm on is anything but serious.

To be honest I find IXXRA a friendlier place but that's because I've met most of them and can join in the banter. I've met a couple on here but not enough to be part of the gang, so to speak. Both forums have their characters but I can deal with the IXXRA characters face to face (or face to kneecap in one case). Once I meet everyone one here I'll be slinging mud with the rest of you.

Don't think it should be about being proud of B.I.R.D. or IXXRA it should be about being proud of what you ride.

You all seem harmless enough, but is this some recruitment drive to make me sign-up? :dunno:

I travel all the way from here just to post there with (mostly) likeminded freaks, I mean pervs, I mean lovers of the Bird.

Ran Iobbo1 is right, it's just cos you us feel nice and cosy, offering friendly advice, such as where I can 4 cough too and so on and that my bike is the wrong colour etc etc.

Thanks.

Besides, because of the time difference I can insult as many people as I want and be out of here before anyone notices. You big girls blouses. man8um

I wouldn't say I am proud to be a member, cos as we all know pride comes before a fall & I don't want to fall off my bird,
I enjoy the banter, and if I can help someone with my limited knowledge, then I am happy, likewise if someone can help me as many on here have then I am happy so I would say I am happy to be a member.

Only one or two guys who I consider "mates" now frequent the forums. The others have moved-on rarely visit, so personally, BIRD is a bit of a distraction from my mundane number crunching existence :B , although some of the inane drivel that get's posted brings a smile to my face :} ...................(so best I keep posting  ).

Thankyou

Proud? A nice warm glow? Pleased to be part of BIRD?
Yep. That's me then.

It gives me a sense of belonging.

I used to think that I was weird but through BIRD I realise I am not alone.
Motorbiking has always been a big part of my life (well since I was 14) and mates that used to have bikes have all given up years ago.
I ploughed my own furrow, then 7 years ago, got the Bird and 5 years (this year) met you lot.
Checking the forum numerous times of day has become part of my routine, part of my life, as has riding out and meeting up with you all.

For me BIRD is like a refuge, a Pub
It gives me a good feeling. I like it. I want to do it.

BIRD is a verb, not just a noun.
I like BIRDing.
