Also travel the N85 napolen route........great, fast easy road.......!

So they must've resurfaced it and widened it then, since we went! The bit between Castillane and Grasse was luverly, but the nearer Grenoble-end we got, the tighter the hairpins and the artics had absolutely no option but to use ALL the road. EEEK. Potholes and 'lumps' everywhere, bits of resurfacing, plenty of loose gravel, shiny bits, roadworks, temp traffic lights etc. Bit like GB really! Most unlike what we have come to expect in France. Troph did NOT enjoy it.
Whilst I echo what you say about Oradour s G - it should be on the 'must do' list, I found it eerily 'quiet' - especially inside the church. Left me empty. Whilst I was glad we had been I did not get any 'feeling' for the village itself - as if it was a film-set or something. Pete says it is because all the souls of the people have left, and that is quite unnatural, however understandable it may seem at first glance. It's not at all like the feelings one has when visiting War graves. Odd. We've discussed this on here before, so it's not just us!
We highly recommend both the Gorge du Verdon in Provence and the Aveyron Gorge /the area round Cordes sur Ciel in (err gets Road map out) Tarn. Rd from CsC to Bruniquel is particularly good. It's on Pete's 'must do it again' list as are parts of the road that runs from Albi across to Millau, esp the bit from Alban up to St Sernin sur Rance. Ski resort - excellent coffee stop. I expect then you'd want to go up to Millau and join the motorway, maybe? LOL
Well, here's a thought, join it south of Millau and go north (goes over some viaduct or another) then get off the mway and turn round, do the viaduct again, and carry on the A75/E11 south. Just after Jct 49 is a tunnel. When you come out of the tunnel - WOW!!! (m. Michelin's 'vistas' on his maps aren't very suitable for bikes however, as they incorporate rather deep gravel-traps for all the artics with failed brakes LOL - Steep it defintely is!)
Enjoy!
