Ok, I'm well known on here for my severe lack of prowess when it comes to anything more complicated than putting fuel in me bikes. So, I turn the wisened mob on here for guidance................

Who wants to sort me out with some instructions on how to change the rear pads on me '97 'Bird? :D

Being mildly serious here, the thought of attempting to change something that me personal safety and, at some stage, my life will depend on scares the shit out of me. However, something tells me it's high time I learn to do at least something myself.

Any takers? Imagine setting out a colour-by-numbers for the average five year old and that's where we're at (y)

Some advice on which pads where to get them would also be good.

Jaws will sort you out far better than I ever could, doing it is really easy explaining how I find much more difficult

As an aside, do you have a manual ?

There’s probably a step by step guide in the help section.
Probably, but there'll be too many big words for me.

Nah, I don't follow manuals very well as I've found in the past that they're usually written for people with half an idea what they're doing. I need:

1. Take spanner in left hand (if you don't know what a spanner is, turn to page 143).

2. Place spanner over nutty thing on brakey thing on rear (i.e. the one at the back) wheel where the sticky-up bit points slightly forward.

3. Fit spanner on nutty thing and turn to left if you're facing forward or.......

You get my drift? :D

If there's a way to do it wrong, I'll find it. Trust me.

As I've said above, my ineptitude is no secret and I don't hide it, which is why John has very bravely offered to talk me through it. Pads ordered, so watch this space :D

Pushing the pistons back in to allow for new pads is the tricky part.
Do you have the manual on cd??
