Well I thought it was about time to sign up and get on this forum and seeing as there's been a few new bods signing up on here it sort of made me get my arsh into gear and do it. Hi!

I picked up my "Bird" in early December last year and like many others have found it to be the best bike I've ever owned. Mine is a Black '98 model on a "T" plate so is carb'd and came with 35k on the clock. She was obviously loved by her previous owners as she has a full service history and came with new front fork springs, new rear shock, new chain and sprokets (f&r), alarm, datatag, heated grips, hugger, front mudguard extender thingy and just about all the receipts and paperwork you can imagine...not bad for £2500 me thinks!

I took her on a blast down to the west country just before Christmas and for that journey had treated myself to a set of Kappa panniers (bargain off fleabay at £150 - virtually brand new!) and a new MRA touring screen (annuva bargain off fleabay at £45 - brand new from Lithuania). The bike was just fantastic and handled just so well. Over the return journey of some 590 mile I returned 52mpg which I thought was pretty damn good...and I wasn't hanging around on the way back home! She cruises rock steady at licence loosing speeds and as she is so smooth you just don't notice until you are reminded by the speedo.

So, I guess the next thing is to get a piccy or two up on here but I guess I'd better get her cleaned as she is used every day... I ain't no fairweather rider me!

There are a few things I want to ask but for now will just say hello and read the other bits on here.

you might get more people to talk to you if you post in the coffee shop. If you don't want the piss ripped probably best to post in the newbies thread first. At least with a black one you won't be humiliated and called things like a gay or a slug. Best not to talk to red owners / forum groomers

I've riden in all weathers ever since I started riding on the road at 16 and the only thing that gives me some concern is frosted roads and black ice. Ofcourse the white stuff is a no go on road tyres but I have riden in it on many occassion on a trail bike with knobblies without too much sweat.

Just looking at the weather forecast and the morning run to work ay 0630hrs may be interesting tomorrow!

Well due to the weather this weekend I can say that the Blackbird is much better in snow/ice than my VFR mainly due to the excellent low speed fueling and extra weight. Of course though I'd never recommend trying this comparison unless you are a bit loopy. Like me I guess. But hey you gotta get to work somehow!!

A nice cold wash for the bird when I get back. Hate all that road salt and crap.

Welcome and it sounds like you gotta good bargain there.

The mileage is low for it's age, so keep an eye on the oil feed pipes that go from the oil cooler to the sump......they rot, cover them with ACF50 (from Jaws) and you'll be oright.
